No way Maddison and Bissouma getting droppedPretty sure that front 6 played against Villa and we played them off the park

Redknapp had Bale, Modric and VDV.. imagine those three in today’s team
None of our midfielders are pressing with intensity, when Son starts and the CB passes out to the fullback, porro or Jhonson comes 3-4 seconds after, then they pass in the middle, then Bentancur reacts after 2 sec. this is not the way to press with a High line, Press like this is only acceptable if you lay with a low block yourselves. I am baffeled on how Ange lets this slide. It's obvious how to beat us now:
1. Play 5 at the back with a low block
2. Give Tottenham the ball
3. Counter attack with pace on the wings
4. Score set pieces
However. I'm not going to start blaming Ange. He wants to play with a style and philosophy and doesn't have the players he needs to execute it the way he wants yet. We won't learn his philosophy and style if we don't play it.
We need a top CF. Son is not a good striker against low blocks. Isak will probably go to Arsenal. Toney could be good.
A top number 6 as bissouma has lost all form. Fullback cover.
And a new set piece coach!
This is where scoring working as a team is more important than what one individual contributes. The perfect example is Ronaldo’s recent stint at Utd. His goal scoring figures were very impressive but even for Utd and that’s saying something, even they couldn’t cope with Ronaldo contributing next to nothing outside of his goals. The match result is more important than what Ronaldo/Son achieved.
I can't wrap my head around the pullbacks we're doing so often in these situations. More often than now when someone tries to overlap or underlap, we just pull the ball back into the middle of the pitch, often losing it in the process as it's a pressing trigger.I'm glad you brought the images. That's what I've been thinking, we concede a lot of goals from individual mistakes. Our players are clearly playing in the wrong position. Son cannot be in the center of the field. We need a new center forward, one who can keep the ball at his feet and pivot.
But I'm not saying keep Son on the pitch because it's Son. Bar Johnson, there are no goal threats. You can't just have one player that's scored more than one goal in the last 5 to 10 matches and hope to win games.
Our chief playmaker was sitting next to Son or their centre backs most the match. So we need a finisher that will finish half a chance.
Exactly. LIrony being that how good he is at retaining possession under pressure is he would have massively helped.
It’s tough to know what to do. Because although it’s not negative football it’s the other end of the spectrum in that it’s suicidal. I don’t understand how we can’t just find a good manager who is balanced and can actually set up a team properly.Yes... but maybe it's time we start trusting a manager/process again... I would certainly rather trust Ange and the new setup than going back to another negative manager.
We've had a couple of years now with negativity and crap... the atmosphere and energy alone for the majority of this season has been a breath of fresh air... the football as well.. it's not perfect at all... and we have had some some weird/awful games recently... but we just need to end the season in a way where we can take the positive things into next season. And give it proper go again under Ange. (With another summer window)
Games like today hurt like hell... but hey... let's not panic. IMO.
The worrying is thing is we play the same way no matter if we play against a back four or back three, a counter attacking team or a possession based team. It looks like we do little to no work on during the week on what the opposition will/might do.
Pep also worked out that you have to compete physically in the prem and addressed that swiftly. Now look at how imposing some of the city players are - Dias, Gvardiol, Akanji, Ake, Kovacic, Rodri, Haaland etc - all physical specimens with the technique to match. We are now much improved technically, but we really are weak as piss and we lack height (probably explains why we’re so shite at set pieces).City are proof that it can work but all of their midfielders whether it be defensive or offensive both work their arses off and are so technically gifted that they’re a nightmare to get the ball off them. None of our midfielders can replicate what City do. The last player to do this was Dembele.

Absolutely. Front 3 of Son, Johnson and Richy would be great. Hopefully, someone reminds Maddison his job is to create and use the runners, not be the striker.I know he’s injured which is a bugger, but playing Son alongside Richarlison could be the way to go for the rest of the season.
You forget that we could be 2 or even 3 down to Forrest before we woke up. Looked shaky that game to. But we we’re lucky forest were crapPumped 3-0 away by Fulham
Scraped past Luton Town 2-1 at home
Struggled to draw 1-1 away vs West Ham
Pumped 4-0 away to Newcastle
A 3-1 v Forest at home being the only positive result in the last 5 matches.
Yes... but we've also seen what we can do when we click and the players are on top... and we are firing on all cylinders... get more players in. Adjust. Learn etc... it's also about quality and experience.Exactly. L

We obviously won’t fire him and I’m sure we’ll go and spend another 150m on a 6, a forward etc and be marginally better but I can’t see ange ever being successful with this system personally.
Ossie?My front six against Arsenal:
Bentancur, Kulusevski, Lo Celso
Johnson, Richarlison, Son
