I know it feels like we can't get much worse than recent games but with this back four I think it could get much worse. I'd swap Lenglet, PEH and Deki for Tanganga, Sarr and Danjuma.
Weve seen what happens when porro plays with tanganga behind him.

We do not have the CBs with lenglet injured to play a back 3.

Yeah I think we're finally going to see the back 4 this game as starting Sanchez or Tanganga is suicide.

...and ironically it will probably be even worse than our recent back 3 since we'll be way too open with Porro and Perisic as full-backs, especially given we've spend 18 months being exclusively coached to function as a back 3.

Think this will be the first game in about 8-9 years that I actively avoid. Reckon it will be a routine, one-sided 3-1/4-1 win for Newcastle.

I'm not entirely convinced by what I suggested myself but Porro without anyone behind him is also worrying.
And in a back four we're removing Perisic's biggest strength, Porro's biggest strength and Romero's licence to go hunt opponents down.

But I'm not averse to a back four and going all out attack. Never gonna happen sadly.

But it gives us more options in midfield to pass to, players to pass to between the lines, more options for the cms to pass it, hopefully a bit more control.

Think it's down to the players will at this point. Many of them have been losing confidence or form at times and it's this point of the season where you need a few of them to just grab it by the scruff to get over the line. I could see it being a very competitive week, or the week where we officially roll over and let the season die.

Sometimes this squad is odd though, and can play up/down to an opponent.

The only way I can see us getting something out of this is if he changes things up and catches the off guard. Changes the formation or starts Danjuma who has a blinder.

As it is I imagine it'll be 3 atb with tanganga and we will lose by a few.

Why would you bench Son now, when he is actually rounding into some form? Last 5 games - 3 goals and an assist.
Move son to the right and play danjuma on the left. Or just play Danjuma on the right instead of Kulu.

If we start the team that started Bournemouth we will lose. There's no confidence and teams have worked us out. Just need something to different to at least pose different problems to Newcastle who have the best defence in the league and Howe who is great at setting up teams to nullify opponents

I don’t think the issue is with the XI, it’s with the need to make earlier subs and bring on fresh energy

Maybe we will approach it like we do against city, expect absolutely nothing and surprise us all 🤷‍♀️

Danjuma must start, seems the only one with a bit of passion and motivation to prove a point at the moment.
