No, there is another ring structure that will be lifted , like a wheel rim. The pressure will be taken by the high tension cable and distributed across the ring. Ah, so the ring at the top won't take any of the tension from the roof then? I had that wrong, I thought that was what it would be hung from, sort of, and so would be pulled inwards under some force, if that's not the case we are probably closer to raising the roof that I thought as the perimeter had to be finished first.No, there is another ring structure that will be lifted , like a wheel rim. There will be cables attached all around the compression ring, the steel uprights you currently see in a ring at lower level will be pulled up with the cable network and attach to the outer ring. EDIT: I've just looked at the interactive camera shots on the Official site and I still can't see how the roof can go up very soon, if the ring isn't going to be used in any way to support the roof there must be some more steelwork to go in, the tension cables can't be held with anchorage on only three sides so surely the south side must be included, the south end of the roof cant flap in the breeze.
If I am being dumb and am missing something simple then please ca someone enlighten me.

The compression team certainly have sped up and OK my guesstimate of ring completion by the 18th looks pessimistic now. It looks like all pieces will be in be in by next week.That’ll take them another two weeks
