I can see both points to be honest. Paying for your ticket does give you the right to voice your opinions ofcourse but last night was a perfect example, (jeering and groaning of Darren Bent), of how some so called supporters use this right in the wrong manor and instead of getting behind the team. use this energy to berate a player who already lacks confidence. Not good really

I would hazard a guess that an awful lot of people that went last night do not often attend home games, and they come with this preconseption of what they see and hear on tv, and yes last night was a pretty poor game, but i for one thought Darren Bent worked his socks of, and yes was a little over priced, but any forward would struggle to get a run of games with Berba and keano in the form that they are.

The ground was full of fans who rarely go last night. Thats why it was a crap atmosphere and full of groaners.

I find it pretty poor, that because of what other people do, you use that as a reason for not supporting the team you love, i personally dont care less what other people think, i care what the manager thinks and what i see through my own eyes, as a supporter you are entitled to voice your views because that is you opinion, but i for one would never let them stop me going to the club i love to cheer on my heroes, Even if they are crap, i will still cheer them on because they are playing for this great club.

well Juande I find it pretty poor that you you find my reasoning pretty poor - it upsets me to hear the slagging going on of our players - and I still support the team I love - I've been supporting them nearly 50 years - how long have you been supporting them - I doubt nowhere near as long as me - when you have done see how you feel about the moaners and whingers

:) re A&Cs and Krafty's point -

re yiddotil - well you may not care about other people's enjoyment - that's up to you - but other people do care and for me the Lane would be a better place for players and fans alike if our fans were more supportive and concentrated on singing and cheering for the team

I almost dislke the endless inane armchair commentators as much as the whingers and moaners

There's a reason why Bent gets groans and moans when he gets the ball.

He's useless and doesn't suit our style of football. If you're happy to see long humps forward for Bent to chase then I guess we've got the best exponent. He's never going to have vision, incisiveness, creativity, good touch or composure.

Groooooooaannn.

yep TM - I completely do not buy into the idea that because it wasn't a leage game full of 'regulars' there was more moaning and groaning - I've been going for over 45years now - and I've heard the unsupportive moaning whinging and groaning in loads of lge & cup games

Sorry but,

Ipswich Town ; games 115 Goals 55
Charlton ; games 77 Goals 35

Now it remains to be seen whether he suits our 'new' style of football, but he was the top English goalscorer before moving to us and was scoring goals with left, right and head. He's certainly not useless.

The atmosphere was pants mate. Our fans were voted second most loudest, that says that we fans sing and support our fans a lot more than moan etc. Be realistic guys!

re Bent - he's doing his best - if we drive him out of the club it'll cost us a small fortune -

he also did a useful job last night - enabling BErbs & Keane to get 45 mins rest each

Where were you?
I sit in the south stand just above the shelf, and it is that corner of the ground where the atmosphere is loudest - it was only slightly louder than arsenal last night.

*shakes fist*

Most of it was at Bent tbh. He just was not acting like a striker should. Rather than going forward and trying to get past defenders etc. he was playing the ball back. He did do very well with two chances though and was unlucky not to score.

I think it was quieter last night because of the no beer on sale in the ground rule!

Bloody stupid euro competitions!

i was so bloody nervous we were gonna throw it away that i was on edge from when they scored to the end of the game. When you are anxious, you are easily agitated, so u may groan a bit when there is a mis-timed pass, or a humped up ball to nowhere. Now times that by 30,000 and you get a very loud groan. This happens at every game, at everyclub in the world. That is not the same as booing or not getting behind the team. if you go every week, you would realise this. If you went away games, you would realise it is much, worse, or much quieter in most other grounds. Our support is amongst the best in the country.

The crowd were as nervous as the team last night, and sometimes it showed. Thats all it was.

Also re: cup games. The atmosphere is almost never as good as you do have a hell of a lot of ST holders not buying their tickets, so going on general sale. The point about the "stand up if you hate Arsenal" chant someone mentioned earlier summed it up perfectly. Hardly ever happens at league games, yet at cup games it happens constantly, much to the annoyance of most people who go every game.

My Friend it upsets me to, but its human nature, unfortunatly we live in a world were people expect instant results, so in turn they pay good money to watch a game and IMO they are entitled to express there feeling what ever way they like. I was saying that i would not let these people stop me from going to the club i love, i commend you for supporting the club for nearly 50 years, and im sure you could tell us all a few stories about the teams down the years, but i have been folloeing the club for nearly 40 years and a season ticket holder for 20 of those years, so i think that gives me some say in what i think. And i have spent most home games wondering why people come to the ground because they are so fickle, but this is probably because alot of the time they think they should be watching Brazil and winning everything, where we know that is not the case.
I respect anyone's views and i am only new on here so im sorry but as i have said i would not lets this people stop me from going to a game.

fair enough Juande :) I commend your long support too and sympathise with your points and basically agree - I think we're on the same wavelength here really, it's just maybe you're more resilient than me -

incidentally lack of funds also prevents me from getting to games as well

I just wish the Lane could be more celebratory
