Is that Hojbjerg’s game though? Must admit from the very limited viewing of him so far it was alarming how much space the opposition were getting in front of our back four.
I think that's because Mourinho asked Winks to be the deeper midfielder, which is frankly bonkers. However, as others have said, he seemed to play a DM role in the second half against Southampton and did well.

Is that Frank Worsley or Tom Crean in your dp? Just ordered An Unsung Hero - very excited to read it.

It's indeed Tom Crean. I read that book a couple of years and it's a fantastic read. Yeah, I'm very fascinated by the exploration (Especially the Antarctics) era around the turn of the 20th century.

Yeah that decision has seemed to be how to get the worst out of both players and highlight their weaknesses. Glad we saw the 2nd half switch.

Hojbjerg seems very coachable so I think he'll adapt to whichever formation we go with and do the job assigned to him. I still think we stick to 4 at the back. I think it's more likely that when one fullback pushes on the other will sit back and the defensive midfielder continues to break up play in midfield. We do our best work breaking forward on the counter more so than dominating possession and trying to break down stubborn defences. If Skriniar is suited to that style then he's perfect for us.

I do like the big physical centre backs alongside the quick athletic ones. With that in mind he would be best alongside Sanchez or Tanganga.

Unless there has in fact been an injection of cash, there’s almost no chance of signing Skriniar/Dias & Vinicius/Milik/Weghorst.

Potentially Dias/Skriniar & Diallo, or Kim & Weghorst/Vinicius. Milik, depends how much Levy can get the price down given his contract situation, also how much we bring in from sales.
My one concern is that we keep Aurier or replace likewise, don’t sell him to make money for other positions and have to make do for depth behind Doherty.

Inter and Napoli, EXCLUSIVE: Tottenham blitz in Milan for Skriniar and Milik

No meeting in London for Arkadiusz Milik's agents. According to what has been collected by Calciomercato.it, the English trip of the Polish representatives has been postponed to tomorrow. Today, in fact, some Tottenham emissaries will be in Milan for a blitz with a double objective. In addition to the Napoli striker, the Spurs are aiming for Inter Milan Skriniar and today they will understand the margins of both negotiations, which do not promise easy. News in the day, therefore, for the Nerazzurri and the Neapolitans.

----

Still find it complete bollocks we'd be doing these negotiations face-to-face and not over Skype or whatever.

I have a feeling this Skriniar rumour is a smokescreen and more to do with forcing Benfica hands on Dias.

Smokescreen Klaxon!

That must be it - the media will be looking elsewhere, meaning it's easier for us to buy someone else...I'm just not sure why it would be easier. It just would, right?

I mean, this whole tactic would surely fool agents as well, who actually talk to these people....

I'm convinced

Face to face is subjective though - it's not necessarily Levy, it could be an agent based in Italy doing the go-between. There are customs and language related things that probably don't translate well over multi-million pound deals
