You're lucky. My wedding was at 3pm on 16th May 1987 - and I was a season ticket holder. Always blamed myself; we would've won if I'd been there.
March 25th 1978, sneaked to car at 4.40 to find we'd drawn 3-3.You're lucky. My wedding was at 3pm on 16th May 1987 - and I was a season ticket holder. Always blamed myself; we would've won if I'd been there.
Not my first game at WHL - that was 5-0 against QPR in 83 - but the one from that era that sticks in my head. Went home broken hearted.
I was in the Park Lane seats that night, it was a rearranged game from Jan when the snow was on the ground.
Title hopes fluttered away, ended up 3rd. (as per)
Clive Allen with drag backs galore in QPR colours.
.
I honestly believe that day and also 1st June 2019 were the worst days of my football life.
.
Felt like I had been disembowelled.
The 1978 World Cup saw some fantastic goals. If my memory serves me correctly, the games were live on the BBC but the kick off times were late into the night, gone midnight for some of them........that hasn't happened much since, maybe Korea
Plus those of us who remember, there were some great players involved. Bettega, Rumminigge, Rep etc
It's a two part clip, the second follows on automatically.
Look out for Arie Haan's long range goal and Cubillas scoring a couple of that effectively knocked Scotland out, "Ally's Army" really thought they would win it too
great memories I too was at the 5-0 game and also bought the videoMarvelous. Hoddle, Ardiles and Waddle in the same midfield plus an appearance (and goal) from Mickey Hazard.
Also Mark Falco, a much-maligned forward who was much better than most gave him credit for. I fondly remember him scoring a waist-high volley from the edge of the box when we beat the goons 5-0 at the Lane. (Bought it from the club on video - cost me about 25 quid; probably equivalent to around 100 in today's money.)
