I haven't dropped this thread into Spurs Chat, so as not to clog it up nor make it THFC specific.

Was that our first win there since the Titanic sunk or summit?

my fave there was the cup win before the Everton semi at Leeds

I miss ITV's The Big Match on Sunday's. They should have been allowed to keep that.

Really don’t think it would hurt the premier league or indeed the football league to show one match a week on terrestrial telly. Doesn’t need to be one of the big games either.

1912 yeah.

It was in reality something like 38 games, league and cup, a few were draws. the gaps were because either them or us being in the old Second Division and the minor matter of two world wars.

Now this one, a mere 35 yrs ago - I was at.

I was living and working in Gloucester at the time, got up the morning of this game and phoned up a series of mates to see if they fancied going up. Not one was up for it, we had an awful record at Anfield and hadn't won there since The Titanic hit that iceberg thing so I couldn't really blame them.

In the end I resorted to phoning up one of my cousins in Liverpool (I'm from a Liverpool family, Toxteth born, my 1st ever game was at Anfield) who agreed "but only if you stand with me on the Kop" - which was the end Crooksie scored the winner, of course.

The other abiding memory of that game was an absolute shocker of an over-the-top tackle, right near the end, by Dalglish on Paul Miller down near the corner flag right in front of the Spurs fans. Git.

My mate had met some Mickeys on holiday in Spain (apols Toxteth lad - these were from Belle Vale and Gateacre Park) and they invited him and a few of us to come up and stay for the weekends, we had been a few times and had great nightclub fun despite the language difficulties and inevitably watching Spurs lose. Although one year we did take the lead only to be turned over.

Standing in the Kop that day was just "peak / one of these days" moments I will never forget. We won there again soon after and I'll not forget my mate looking at me doing a yawn and laughing (silently). My mate has been gone 4 years but the memories live on.

I’d completely forgotten this match.

Lol at Barry Venison’s barnet.

Love the way Klinsmann celebrated Sheringham’s goal even though the goalie had just saved his amazing diving header.

Me too.. And Ruel Fox scoring for them

I think it was for an early christmas present. I was 15, only my second time in London. Came down with my Dad on the old Intercity to Kings Cross. Did the touristy stuff in the morning, then up to Seven Sisters after lunch. I remember the walk to the ground seemed to take forever. I was hoping to see Klinsmann score, but Teddy was a hero to me at the time, so I was delighted to see him score a hat-trick. I was absolutely buzzing for days after it.
