Marvelous. Hoddle, Ardiles and Waddle in the same midfield plus an appearance (and goal) from Mickey Hazard.

Also Mark Falco, a much-maligned forward who was much better than most gave him credit for. I fondly remember him scoring a waist-high volley from the edge of the box when we beat the goons 5-0 at the Lane. (Bought it from the club on video - cost me about 25 quid; probably equivalent to around 100 in today's money.)

I hardly missed a game at WHL in the 1980's. The 5-0 was one of those. It was an Easter Monday holiday weekend fixture and our Sunday side went over to Belgium for a football tournament/piss up. Regrets - Yeah.

Fantastic.

That Falco goal (at around 2:00) is even better than I remembered. I'd forgotten that he got two (both volleys) and that Chris Hughton also scored twice.

Mark Falco was such an underrated player IMHO..Remember this he scored on our way to the UEFA cup final in '84.
EDIT - It wasn't on our way to the 84 final...it was the year after 84/85....memory lapse!

There was only about 2/300 of us stuck up in the seats bit more right from the camera angle! really small stadium but they had some fantastic support that night. It was a brilliant day in prague, drinking with the locals and swapping our scarves & hats for theres, not hint of trouble, they were genuinely interested in just meeting us..

Just edited it after remembering It wasn't on our way to the 84 final...it was the year after 84/85....memory lapse as we get older TCO.
Then we went out to the Madridscum in Q/F's that year.

If I remember correctly that was the first time we had ever lost at home in a european competition.

Never fucking liked Madrid.

I know that memory misjudgement thing. I just checked and I didn't go to any away tie in the 84 winning year - apart from the 1st leg of the final in Brussels.
I didn't miss many matches at all in the 1980's home or away.
