Ive been racking my braing out to think of not just a worse spurs player but a worse footballer period... i actually cannot think of one. I think he is quite possibly the worst footballer I have seen. Anyone recall anything good he has done - be it a pass or a cross. I think he crossed to Kane for the goal at WBA last season thats about it.

I feel sorry for him because he seems like a decent guy who is in a position of such low confidence - I blame the managers/owner for buying him and playing him.
for sure the worst tottenham signing within the last 20 years, only comparable one I can think of is rasiak, hell even ghaly had some decent moments in a spurs shirt

nah least emerson has some redeeming features, physically strong, fast, doherty literally has 0 redeeming features to his game, quite remarkable for a professional footballer, credit to him for blagging it this far
Emerson may be strong yet constantly gets beaten by wingers. Also lets people get a cross in whenever they like and frankly is totally shit going forward. Can't see anything decent in his game at all. Also can't see a lot in Doherty either.

That's such an over reaction. You haven't been watching much spurs over the last 20 years. I can name at least 10 worse fullbacks.

Emerson is good in a back 4, however not suited in the conte system.
I've been watching Spurs from the last 45 years and its not an overreaction. Emerson is dreadful and needds to be replaced as does Doherty. Both barely championship level.

Nonsense.

I've been to over 300 spurs games.

I can name 8 easily.

Paulo Tamezzani, Gilbert, Edmund, Pamaro, Etouba, Ben thatcher, Kyle naughton, Clive Wilson, Taricco.

To name a few.

What has he done wrong? Apart from not being great offensively?

Wilson and Taricco were pretty solid for us.

That said, I'd also put Alan Hutton on that list.

He's stealing a living in the PL. Worst signing in my Spurs-time.

he was a bad signing but largely because we signed a player who for gawd knows how long had been playing as a wing back in a back 5 and doing pretty well to the point where most people thought it was a steel getting one of the best wing backs in the league for a decent fee -

then what do we do put him into a back 4 with little defensive cover ask him to curb his attacking play because the left back also wants to bomb forward and we wonder why the signing don't work out . Now we have stuck him at left back because we have no one else and people are wondering why a right footed player can't cross the ball with his left foot

Don't get me wrong he ain't great and far from it but he unlike some other signings he does have a few legit reasons for not showing his form

That and the fact that he's a not so secret gooner.

Honestly, I used to hate him now I feel sorry for him it’s not actually his fault and then to play him at left back when he can’t even play well in his actual position is a calamity.

his confidence must be at rock bottom but good on him as he keeps trying

Gotta feel for him, he was a RWB and was sign to play as a RB
Now that we play with RWB, he is played but only as a LWB
