I’d like Conte to give playing time to Lavinier as cover for Royal, to see if he’s better than Doherty.

How is Doherty in the Spurs chat when he is linked with Wolves and why is Kane in the Transfer rumours thread? Who actually thinks Kane will be sold in January? Its just ridiculous and purely done to antagonise members like me who are banned

I'm sure that's the reason, yes.

I though Doherty was okay today. Not especially good or especially bad. He wouldn't be the first player I shove out the door, but I also would be happy to move him on if we could pick up a better replacement. Right now we need to warm body, since he can "play" lwb and rwb and all our lwb's are constantly injured.

The issue for me is that he just doesn't fit the roles we've needed him to play. As I see it, his best attribute is his ability to make that darting run into the box and get on the end of crosses. He scored a bunch of goals and assists for Wolves that way. He does that really well, and when we play against those packed defenses he is the only one trying to get behind at times. That worked when you had Traore making space and Neves/Moutinho pinging balls around. Wolves were all about sending lots of big bodies into the box and chucking the ball into the mixer.

Jose clearly liked him (he was bigging him up even back in the Amazon documentary the year before we signed him), but tactically he was a terrible fit for a Jose team. He is mediocre defensively so a horrible fit for Jose's back 4. Now under Conte we play wingbacks like he used to play at Wolves, but I don't see him as a good fit for what Conte wants either. Because we play two defensive minded midfielders with Lucas and Son tucking inside/running behind, all of our ball progression basically needs to come from the wingbacks. Conte needs players with pace, insane fitness levels, the ability to carry the ball, and the ability to cross the ball. Doherty is just an okay crosser (about the same as Emerson) and he doesn't really fit the bill physically. The system at Wolves made him look a far superior player stats-wise than he actually is. Jose must have fallen for his size, stats, and Mendes' sweet talk.

Ndombele was booed off for strolling off the pitch. Doherty strolled across and let Chelsea gain a corner kick when he could have sprinted and kept it in.

Not only is he shit, he doesn't care. Awful player, awful attitude. One of the worst players I've seen here.

He’s not up to the required level but he’s trying. We can’t say the same for some others.
This is tue.

Hes been playing on the left but at least he tires, he makes a effort to try and get in behind defences and even wants the ball.

He let 4 clear chances to cross the ball early in the first half go and them when he finally tried a cross it was awful. I can’t believe how someone who had a hand in the most goals and assists when at wolves has turned into a Sunday league pub player

Does the guy not have a left foot?

Shocking from a professional.

Ben Davies did more in his position today, despite not playing in his position

He's poor I agree but actually better than Emerson who is the worst full/wing backs I've seen.
That's such an over reaction. You haven't been watching much spurs over the last 20 years. I can name at least 10 worse fullbacks.

Emerson is good in a back 4, however not suited in the conte system.

nah least emerson has some redeeming features, physically strong, fast, doherty literally has 0 redeeming features to his game, quite remarkable for a professional footballer, credit to him for blagging it this far

Felt a bit bad for him today tbh, probably knows he’s not good enough as a RWB, low on confidence, suspects he’s out the door in the next few weeks and hardly feeling support from fans compounding the fact that he’s been asked to play as a fucking LWB, when he’s got no left foot.

Ive been racking my braing out to think of not just a worse spurs player but a worse footballer period... i actually cannot think of one. I think he is quite possibly the worst footballer I have seen. Anyone recall anything good he has done - be it a pass or a cross. I think he crossed to Kane for the goal at WBA last season thats about it.

I feel sorry for him because he seems like a decent guy who is in a position of such low confidence - I blame the managers/owner for buying him and playing him.
