What about Vinicus? What did he do wrong?

I could turn that around and say what did he do right? A couple of moments where he almost did something good but didn't, messed up when through on goal, and apart from that was pretty easily shackled. Early days and all that caveat, but his hold up play/back to goal work does seem a little agricultural and needs work, and he was struggling to provide a focal point against the big rigs Antwerp had at the back. Hardly a shock to try something different, see if Son can run in behind or Lamela dropping off the front causes them more problems than the physical matchup they were largely winning. Plus knowing we still had Kane to introduce in the second half as well.

Maybe nothing. Maybe he picked up a knock. Maybe he's still not fully fit. Maybe Jose wants to save him for another match. Maybe he wasn't right for what Jose wanted the team to do in the second half.

The possibilities are endless. I don't wish to be rude, but just because one doesn't know the reason for something, it doesn't mean that a reason doesn't exist, does it?

One was asking for ones opinion as this is a forum

The thing is - if he'd let the players that started go on and lose the game, he can rip them to pieces and re-instate the well rested other players. As it is now, everyone culpable and nobody has had a rest. Perhaps he thought they'd come back on and turn the game around, but making four subs at half time is a statement as opposed to just a tactical decision - and it felt like he pressed the nuclear button in fairly low risk scenario game - yes we'd had a poor first half but we were only 1-0 down and could afford to lose if it really came to it.

Yeah, but again, I hope you don't take this amiss, the tone you used suggests that whatever the reason may or may not have been, it was invalid. But when one doesn't know what the reason is, can one really make a judgement as to its validity? Saying this is a forum doesn't really cover that, does it?

An option that I find for the 4 subs also is that some players have argued at halftime. The departures of Gio and Vinicius surprise me a lot.

I saw this mentioned before. What's it all about? Who's he been slapping?

he posted on Instagram a few weeks ago. Was on here I think. App it’s cool to slap people around the head, unsuspectingly. Work bants etc. He slapped a few, surprisingly not Kane / Dier ?

Hmmmm... not sure what to make of that, really...

The slapping, not that he left out Kane and Dier.

Too many changes from the last game. Let bale play with son and Kane ffs. And probably dele too. All time low confidence and he gets stuck out with the fringe boys. I think Dele is done personally but that line up was seriously a bad call and underestimating our opponent.

One thing I like about Mourinho that maybe some of you may not is that he is willing to shred the players out in the open and gives them nowhere to hide.

As much as that may be a demotivator to some, to the true winners it's a refreshing kick up the arse and a reminder that you can never take your foot off the gas if you want to be the best because that's what it takes, 110% effort each and every game.

On reflection of what was a shoddy disgusting game, i do think that changing players is a bit much and doesnt help players to shine that perhaps they would do in a settled team.

Personally feel that the performance is not the issue the effort is. You can change the entire starting 11 and still put in effort to win a game. The result is secondary.

I don’t understand why everyone moaning about the starting 11 last night . We have always used the fringe players In Europa . Remember Ramos , redknapp and poch doing it in the early stages.
Last week it felt like good squad management , this week it’s to much . It’s not like they are the kids . All of them bar Vinny , dele and Bale have started Prem games this season and the three mentioned are pretty experienced players ? And the 5 that came on with 44-35 mins to go had enough time to turn it around.
We just had an awful day at the office and the team including manager take it on the chin.

I can’t imagine anyone was moaning about the starting X1 before ko, he picked a team plenty good enough to beat Antwerp

Personally I feel Jose has been getting it wrong a bit in the last few games, particularly around the substitutions. Last night's was OTT in my opinion, and essentially led to two separate teams in one match. It won't do anyone's confidence any good.

It's good that we have a deep squad, but unless there's a settled XI, it'll be a while before these players start clicking together properly.

I did forget and sounds like I'm moaning but since when was jose on insta? I don't think that he should be on that thing or the very least to use it other than person stuff... Not many managers I'm aware do this...
