All of that may be true, but my central points remain.
The press has revolutionised football in the last 5 years for the reasons I outlined.
We should be pressing for the reasons I outlined.
Jose is not doing that.
We are playing shit, negative football with no sign of progress.
We will remain playing shit, negative football while jose is manager.

Yes the press changed football, and we were part of that along with Liverpool. We had 2 great seasons and 2 pretty good. But PL clubs learnt how to cope with it (low block, direct counter attacking football) and we started to lose to teams we previously beat. We had to adapt. As did Liverpool. Our adaptation was hampered by injuries to key players (Dembele, wanyama)) who aided the high press, a loss of pace (walker and rose - through injury mainly) and players who mentally left long before they actually did (Eriksen). Liverpool bought well and changed their game to be more than just the high press, they learnt how to play the low block even better. They still have pace at full back, a dominating and creative midfield and sharp attack. We only have one of those (attackers - Kane, son, Dele) but they can't function without the rest.

A high press today, with these players simply wouldn't work as well. We are not far off, we have the squad but we need 2-3 players (as always -sigh) to function. I like sissoko and winks, think they can do a job for us, but they are not dembele and wanyama. Lo celso and ndombele could become what we need but they are not there yet.

It's not crap football, but it's not eye catching either. Eye catching football needs eye catching players. We don't get have enough of them.

As for mourinho, I respect your take on him but feel it's too early to judge his work here. I believe he is capable of delivering what you want and I think it'll happen sooner than later.

Pressing football is boring football. It is like headless chicken football. Medium-block, counter attacking football is universal and at the end of the day, this type of football will always remain. Whereas for 3 to 4 years of time pressing football, tiki-taka, posessional football will come and go away ...

On a happy note it seems to be generally accepted that we are a poor team but guess what if we beat Bournemouth we go above Arsenal and that gives me great pleasure as a couple of my neighbours are gooners and are really giving me stick . I dont know what it says about them being below a very poor spurs side . One thing I am sure of Jose will bring in one if not two holding midfielders and our team I am sure will play so much better than they are now all clubs that are successful have holding midfielders .
Liverpool Henderson/ Robino / Milner
City Fernando / Gunogan / Rodri
Man unt Matic / Mc dominay/
Arsenal xhaka Ghendousi
Leicester Ndidi / Soyunca / Choudery
Chelsea Kovatic Kante
Spurs er. er er
Dont get me started on strikers
Kane and er er er
These two main problems Jose will make priorities I am sure and we will be much better when these two positions are sorted .

The problem for me is how we ourselves deal with being pressed. We're very easily reduced to what can best be described as hoofing, Pulis style "launch it in the channels" or passing the ball where our opponents wants us to (typically along the sideline to a winger under heavy pressure facing his own goal). Establishing passing structures and principles for how we bypass being pressed and getting the ball to our dangerous players under better conditions more often is really lacking in this team.

It’s difficult to judge performances without fans.

we had a shit one against sheffield, but have got results from the rest.

haven’t we got more points than Chelsea since JM took over?
Appreciate it’s shitty performances but nothing worse than what we were seeing for Poch’s last year and a half bare the CL run

Poch was probably right heading in the diamond formation with our set of players.

He probably wanted it to be:

Winks holding
Ndombele and Lo Celso in the middle
Fernandes as the 10

Son and Kane up front.
He didn't attempt it when he played GLC on the right and started TND from the bench.

I agree with that 100%. The Everton game was a classic example of that. I was watching how Everton set up against us and how they pressed and noticed that when they pressed our back line their players would position themselves to cut the angle to our midfield players. It is easy to avoid and simply needs our midfielders to shift position to receive the pass. However, when they received the pass they would need an out and in tight space, if another midfielder didn't follow and shift their position, the receiver would be under pressure and risk the turnover.

What I saw was our midfield having the line to the pass blocked and they would not shift to receive the pass. There's no way they are coached to do that so it tells me there might be a confidence or belief issue going on. Or both. Not confident to receive the pass in tight space and a lack of belief that a teammate will follow suit and offer the out ball.

Winks was doing ok at offering the out but lo ceslo could find himself too far away from the backline and sissoko (not that I want to pick any player out) was all too often blocked and not moving into space.

But then when I looked at where he could go, there was no clear route for him to offer a forward pass

Could be getting used to the new system, could be not willing to take risks, especially after the Sheffield game.

Mourinho would have seen it, I imagine they will be drilling that a lot. If it's confidence and belief, then he knows what to do. Noticed fabregas singing his praises today, saying that getting into his head was mourinhos greatest strength. Hopefully, we will see less of that with time.

Two teams who know how to exploit that lack of movement, regardless of current form, are Bournemouth and arsenal. We night need the low block a little longer to get through those games safely.

What your saying ties in with what I have mentioned a few times. When one of our players is in possession there is rarely more than one player available to receive the pass. Nobody really moves to want to receive the ball. It has been like that for years. Our movement of the ball has been poor for as long as I remember. I suppose there is the element of keeping team shape, but the player on the ball has to have options or else the team play becomes very predictable.

From today’s press conference. This is revealing ?

I think that's the right attitude to take. I like KWP, he comes across as a lovely guy, I saw him play a few youth games and he was on a different planet to those around him. He'd run a game from fullback. But, he never really developed physically and this makes his career path much harder.

I would love him to stay and fight for a place, but the reality is for his own development he should move on.

Also, he added more. 'good value in the market'. It sounds like we think we could get a decent sum from him to reinvest.
