Manchester United's share price dropped by a $1.53 in 24 hours yesterday that's 9% so clearly there must have been a major problem verging on the catastrophic for the Red Devils, see this article:-

Reading through to see what the trouble was it seems the only explanation is a rumour that they were buying Ezequiel Garay from Benfica and I thought Christ he must be shite then but no, he's apparently quite good and the cause of the panic was that Utd were paying £17million for him which might have a detrimental effect on their financial situation.
Have we really got to the stage where the purchase of a new player to strengthen the team is such a negative that people are rushing to offload their shares in the club?
is this the future for Football?
