I know some of it has been posted before but this is just staggering.

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...cost-converting-West-Ham-soars-51million.html

It will take over 161 years to get any money back for the tax payer on this utter clusterfuck. How did the conversion cost £323m?

It's madness. I was at the stadium during the Olympics. It was a built, fit for purpose sporting arena. £323m? How? Now we understand its going to cost the taxpayer £8m a year to move a few seats. I thought this financial doping was illegal under UEFA rules.

Something stinks and its not just the Davids Dildos.

Sums up what is wrong with Britain. People in top positions running the country who have absolutely no idea

The media public athletics and politicians vilified Levy for suggesting the best thing to do was knock it down and move athletics to crystal, palace to a smaller purpose built stadium, then build a footy stadium in the Olympic park.

Anyway, Levy has played a blinder by getting us the stadium we always wanted, and west ham a stadium thats unfit for football.

They'll never get it back as they're paying for maintenence and the 8m a year on retractable seating. The stadium, re-conversion, maintenence, staffing will cost the taxypayer over a billion in that time, they won't make a penny back

If only there had been somebody at the time pointing out that it wasn't suitable for football and that it should be pulled down and a purpose built football stadium built in its place...

All this talk about knocking it down and re-building it for football.....isn't it also meant to be an athletics stadium for years to come? If West Ham were happy with that when they signed the deal then they can put up with it for the next 99 years. No way should the stadium be rebuilt for their use.

In the queens name blah blah blah...

where are the athletic crowd now? They've all gone quiet? see Coe, kelly Holmes etc....

Exactly.

We ALL said this would happen and that costs would rise and rise.

I suspect the hope, until levy got involved with the 99 year track lease, was that they would give West Ham the site and then let the noise die down about the olympics by which time it would be ok to knock it down and build another stadium there.

Seriously there should be a full public enquiry into all this, expecting Tax payers to fund a football club with all the money thats in the game is a National disgrace.

Does anyone know the official figures of how much it cost to originally build the Olympic stadium and how much the conversion has cost? I keep seeing different figures all over the place.

This legally binding contract West Ham have signed with LLDC and the stadium owners will help them get out of paying for anything. The wankers.

Unless there is some gaping hole that makes this contract invalid, the David's and Brady will get away without having to put there hands in there pocket.

I reckon we need to get on the phone to those private investigators again to go through Karens emails...they did such a good job last time round

Even if we saw the official figures, would we be able to believe them? They would probably be out by a few hundred mil.

What it originally costs shouldn't be considered in this respect as it's offset by the Tourism and PR boost the U.K. Had for hosting the Olympics there are too many unknowns to know the true cost of that and remember that a huge part of the spend was removal of radioactive material which the government would of had to shell out for no matter the use of the land.

I think you have to look at the olympics and the "legacy" as two different aspects.

The refurbishment of the stadium to make it fit for purpose is the £323M figure. For this West Ham contributed £15M and to that and will pay £2M a year for 99 years to play their games there. They also receive a cut of naming rights and consesions whilst passing all maintenance and running costs to the tax payers.

In constrast we are paying around £20M to rent Wembley for a season.

Perhaps they can be screwed on any and all unforeseen costs relating to safety and security. Khan and the Met can effectively hold them to ransom on the safety certificate.

That Gonzo dickhead back at it again with a written piece this time http://www.claretandhugh.info/another-bandwagon-is-on-its-way-mr-mayor/?

In a nutshell, "Woe is us, everyone wants to kick us when we're down, it's nothing to do with us"

all wrapped up with his final line,

Blame the contractors, blame a lack of foresight or even blame Daniel Levy if you like but leave us alone please because the bandwagon is full . . . . . . . another will be along shortly.

Amazing how nothing is their fault anymore isn't it? Amazing how Khan is calling for the answers from the owners and into how the bidding process was won yet it's somehow an attack on them. Guilty conscience?

Oh and as an addition, first comment posted as a reply to it,
No investigation about the 27m given to Tottscum then via the tax payer for there new uber sponsored cess pit?

Yeah mate nothing to do with infrastructure costs is it? I'm sure that £27m is going to cover the near half a billion Spurs are spending on the stadium complex

It was stupid to build an expensive athletics-only stadium in the first place. For what, a few weeks of athletics?

Like the expert said yesterday, build a football stadium that could also host athletics, not one that is clearly, obviously shit for football at a moment's glance.

Im very surprised there hasn't been some kind of movement by the fans of the various clubs within London to have this looked at formally.

Considering many of the taxpayers within London will be fans of rival clubs, you'd imagine that they wouldn't be overly happy with footing the bill for a private venture, irrespective of that venture being a direct rival.

The contract they already have is scandalous and whoever approved it needs investigating as it makes no sense to anyone but West Ham.

The fact this was all predicted by our previous head of architecture just goes to show the negligence and incompetence of those that ratified the deal. It isn't in the best interests of the public or for the Olympic legacy as its being dragged through the mud on a daily basis and the only legacy it's leaving is one of failure
