Trouble is last season with the transfer ban, he had no pressure. No one expected them to get top 4, think most thought they would challenge but fall short.

Then when they got it, they were going into a new season with CL football meaning they had toupgrade the squad. And Chelsea only know one way to do that, throw large amounts of money at a lot of different players and see what sticks.

Now with the amount they have spent, there is a lot of pressure on him to now deliver. I still think the goalkeeper and defence isn’t going to be good enough to compete in the league and CL, think they will struggle.

Yep this.

Was chatting to a mate last night about why on earth the bought in 36 year old Silva at centre back too.

Seems a very odd decision to me.

I think Silva is an ok purchase but more of an experienced leader who could play the odd cup game and help out the youngsters...not thrown into the PL. He looked completely out of his depth against West Brom.

They made him captain for that match or am I mistaken?

Very odd decision. Would have thought Kante, Kovacic or Alonso would have taken it.
Kante is a leader by example but almost silent on and off the pitch. Alonso, well it seems his bridges are burned after WBA but we'll see.

Kovacic and Jorginho are the only possible leaders in that squad aside from Silva. The young boys just aren't those types of players.

The heat is on both OGS and Lamps this season to achieve more than just a qualifier to Champions League. The pundits and supporters all were raving on how they managed to achieve that and applauded it like they won something... My guess is that Lamps is the first of those two to get the axe before xmas

Imagine being a young goalkeeper at Chelsea and knowing that Petr Cech has more chance of playing for the first team than you do.

Standard Chelsea. They’ve shown their true colors this summer. Any highly promising youth player in that academy that was feeling optimistic after last season should honestly be telling their agents to look for a move. They wont get any opportunity at that club even with Lampard.

I also feel for Mount. He’s getting alot of games now, albeit being shoehorned in out of position which is doing him no favors, because Lampard loves him. But when push comes to shove, and we are approaching that moment, he’ll be dropped completely because Chelsea spent way too much on Zyech, Pulisic, Werner & Havertz to not play them and CHO also needs to play. Plus they have 2 other quality out and out strikers who need to play. Mount wont get a look in whatsoever soon enough.

Did Chelsea leave anyone out of their squad, or was there just a gap that Cech filled? I thought they had about 30 players in their squad, or did they find loan moves for them all?

Edit - It looks like Danny Drinkwater hasn't got a squad number for a start.

What's wrong with it?
Nothing wrong with that tbh..

Plus, are we talking about the keeper who refused to be substituted in the League cup final? He was lucky I wasn't his manager, because I would of walked on the pitch and dragged him off by the scruff of the neck, thrown him in the reserves and sold him immediately.

Chelsea really taking the piss at Kepa with this tweet

No sorry but they're not, they're simply highlighting that he had a good game and not doing it deliberately to piss off one of their other players.

Hence my “taking the piss”. I think it’s quite disrespectful of Chelsea to treat a player in that way.
