Chelsea also have 6,789 players out on loan who they can call back and one of the best youth systems in the country. Think it might even be a positive for them if this happened.

I can't see them escaping the ban, only delaying it. If Sarri stays their squad needs a lot of work to get him the players he needs for his system. If he goes then a new manager is going to want to bring players in. Fingers crossed that their appeal is handled swiftly and rejected so the ban can begin this summer.

Like others have said, disappointingly they’ll get out of it. Their solicitors will be working their magic etc

However, if it begins in January and they are still made to serve 2 bans, Hazard could be sold.

It wasn't just FIFA dropping the hammer on them. The FA did too. Everybody seems fed up with them gobbling up youth talent, loaning it out, not playing it and ruining careers.

I don't think what happened with Barca is applicable here. I really think there is a decent chance their appeal is denied.
The FA also received a fine

They were investigated over 92 transfer deals and found guilty over 29 of them.
That's not just bending the rules, that's a deliberate smashing of them.
Piss myself if FIFA throw the appeal out and stick another transfer window extra on it...

Here is Article 19 itself. What they've done, time after time after time, is simply unacceptable

I suspect it is 2a that they have repeatedly broken.

Rich teams break rules, Barca, Real, Chelsea, City, PSG - when you have money you can do whatever the fuck you want.

That's why a transfer ban is intended to hit them where it hurts the most, stopping them from spending their money on players.

Of course, because of the feeble lack of insight of the authorities and their general dribbling stupidity, it really does no such thing.

Chelsea: "Watch us flout the rules. If it means we miss a transfer window or two, no biggie"

Levy: "Hold my beer. I'll self-ban us!"

The fact that they’ll appeal and have the summer window while the appeal is pending renders this fairly moot imo.

A club of their means can go all out in the summer window in preparation for the following two being closed. :meh:

They need more than one window to solve their transfer issues, They can't spend gigantic amounts otherwise will face further FFP issues, plus clubs know they'll be desperate so that adds a premium, plus the players who they target will know that the club is facing a transfer ban putting them in a period of uncertainty. It isn't as great as an instant ban but lets put it this way, I don't see their squad catching up with ours this summer.

Nor do I. I just don’t think it’s that big of a punishment when they have a whole summer window to prep for it. The ban should be upheld while the appeal is pending imo.

There really should be a points deduction (or likewise) in place for stuff like this. As you say, fines don't deter these clubs and they always find a way around it. Start to hit them where it really hurts, start to show them that fair play rules are in place for just that.

Meh. They'll appeal, the ban will be overturned and they'll have to pay a 20p fine instead.

I'll be stunned if this is actually upheld.

Why? They’ve carried out Bans on both Madrid clubs and Barca in recent years who are much bigger in terms of muscle than Chelsea so what do you expect will be different for Chelsea?

This is the finding of an investigation lasting 3 years with over 100 cases looked in to. They believe they have found TWENTY NINE instances where they’ve breached the rules so would say that they’d have to have a pretty good team of lawyers to get this overturned.

Perhaps this will be the start of Roman pulling his illegitimate money out of there. He probably feels like he’s being attacked from all angles at the moment so maybe he’ll decide to take his ball and go play somewhere else.

When has FIFA/UEFA/The FA etc. ever thrown the book at anyone? It'll no doubt be a slap on the wrist or, at worst, a 1 window transfer ban and a bitcoin wallet number to wire the bribe to.

Interesting take. I think you might actually be right. I've said earlier in this thread that I think the club needs to start their squad from scratch by having a good clear out of some of the ones causing the poisonous dressing room atmosphere e.g. Hazard, and building a new squad based around a couple of top players and some of their talented youngsters. They weren't showing any indication of doing that but them being forced to might end up working out long term if they manage it right. Like I said above though, I doubt it'll be anything more than huffing a puffing to keep up appearances for FIFA
