Dier has shown he can play the same balls that Alderweireld has (Wimmer has shown some of this ability as well).

Yeah they do. I would love to see Dier switch to his England self in this team. He was getting all those comparisons to Alonso because the ball was moving through him for England.

Yes I think we are particularly if Winks isn't ready yet but that doesn't mean I don't think Sissoko was worth going for.

Ye but when Diet was spraying balls for England the opposition were sitting odd letting him do it, never really seen him do it in the Prem would be nice if he could

Yeah, they played teams that parked it for sure. But the way we played last year was a possession quick win back style of play that allows the likes of Alonso and Basquets to sit, break up counters, and move the ball along. So theoretically we should see a bit more of flair with the pass from Dier. His touch and his little floated balls are great and I would love to see more of them. I still think he has the nicest crosses in the team and generally the best foot on the team. That kid can place a ball, he just holds it back. My only thought is that he must have consistency issues in practice with spraying the ball all over so Poch has told him to control it a bit. That is reaching a lot though and full of speculation. But the point is he has some right foot on him and I would love to see more of it.

If we can start controlling teams like we did last year and continue to quickly win the ball back, I would like to see him become more influential with the pass.

Im starting to think that it's not guile we lack, but players to give our creative players more options.

Eriksen, Lamela and Kane are all good at picking out a pass, but we don't have many players that keep making smart runs. The reason Eriksen "goes hiding" might be that he simply don't have many good runs to pick out? They either lack the speed or prefer the ball at their feet.

Players like Sissoko will enable players like Eriksen. Atleast that's my theory behind the purchase.

Maybe. But Poch's system rests more on full backs and crosses than through balls..e.g i can't remember the last time we saw a Drinkwater>Vardy or Fabregas>Costa type goal. We aren't really a counter attacking team with pacey/willing runners.

Man City Feb 2016, Lamela to Eriksen and a 2-1 win, and if your talking of balls over the top, Eriksen to Kane v Bournemouth, Toby to Alli v WBA and Everton

Think people also play down Dier's ability on the ball, the kid has great vision and as he get increasingly confident with that we'll see him excell even further.

As others have said I think the guille is intended to come from the front three.

When England did occasionally play well it was largely because Rooney stopped taking the ball off Dier, and Dier instead started slipping neat, quick, accurate passes directly into the likes of Dele and Lallana.

As for the topic in question, yeah I miss Modric too.

Yeah exactly 4 goals therefore not our main thing

last season in the league we scored 69 goals that's our best since 1985/86, and we had our best GD since 1962/63 in the top division. if we can get that or more this season I couldn't give a shit how they are scored
