Am I missing something or is this transfer just plain strange?

He is 28 and scored 12 goals in the Premier League last season. At what point does that mean he should sign for a Championship side?

Also, according to the BBC, West Ham made an initial £1.5 million bid. To me the whole transfer seems crazy. Why haven't Wolves, Wigan, Blackburn, Villa, Everton, Stoke etc made any attempt to sign him!

Someone please explain!

The only reason he is going to West Ham is to join up with Big Sam. Other than that it makes no sense at all. He was probably Newcastle's best player last season, really shocked that they're letting him go. And even more shocked that a player of his quality would want to play in the Championship.

I think he refused a new contract, wants a big payday and Ashey wants to reduce the payroll.

Could have imagined it but am fairly sure Pardew was singing the praises of Demba Ba the other day.

So could be part of a swap deal but you're right, why another Premiership side isn't in for him is beyond me.

Ba was on a pay as you play deal last season. He has yet to sign a contract covering next year so they could loose him yet. Still, Nolan is a massive signing for them.

Pardew will have his work cut out next season.

Good going by Big Sam to land Nolan. Should help them immensely next season

Gee i wonder what West ham's tactics will be next season.
I don't think seeing the ball will be a problem if you're high up in the Olympic stadium.

Anyone else up for pissing off West Ham again and signing Nolan?

Having having a shit player on the wage bill just to piss off west ham? Bad idea

Nolan isn't a bad player. 12 goals from midfield last season is pretty handy. And he's a Captain. If West Ham are only paying about £1.5M for him they are getting a bargain.

Until we got Palacios/Sandro, Nolan was a player I wanted for quite a few seasons.

In fact a couple of years ago I was very much up for us signing both Nolan and Davis from Bolton.

We've moved on since then, but they're both good players, Nolan in particular can compete at the highest level in CM. He can pass, tackle, get forward and score goals, and is a real leader.

I'm sorry but West Ham is his level

Nolan is decent but you do get the feeling he flourishes being the 'main man' in a side...wouldn't happen at Spurs, IMO.

Nolan is nothing like Palacios or Sandro ?

He is definitely no where near our standard, but he is certainly above West Ham

Just like Scott Parker then.

Knew that was coming, but I just think Parker would slot into our midfield better....he's more drive about him, I think we could do with that from the centre of the park from time to time.
