I would be disappointed if e signed Benzema, he did ok in France but seems out of his depth in Spain from what I've seen of him, I wouldn't go as far as saying he has flopped, he'd need the rest of the season to do that, carrying on his poor goals to games ratio.
Seems like a slight upgrade on Defoe in as much as he understands the offside rule a bit better.

I think he has gone from nearly 1 in 2 at Lyon to nearly 1 in 3 at RM. I don't think he is what we need right now especially considering he can't play CL, Cavani would be ideal IMO

I don't agree with all the negativity being aimed at Benzema.

Having a bad time at Real is no indication that a player is not up to standard or has lost it.

The pressure at Real is huge, if you don't hit the ground running it only intensifies also.

Real bring in so many players that a young player will always feel pressure to prove his worth for fear of being replaced.

Not to mention Benzema has gone from being the top star at a club who to being way down the list behind some of the top stars in the world.

I would point to the likes of Hunterlaar who had a great scoring record before Madrid but struggled there and has since gone on to recapture his form in the German league.

Van Der VAart and Snieder have also not shown their best form at Real yet have moved on and proved they are world class players else where.

The best example I can point to is Berbatov at MAn U, every last one of us here saw him at Spurs so we all know he is a genius of a football, one of the worlds best strikers he has it all.....yet moving to MAn U saw him no longer the big fish in his little pond and he too found it hard adjusting to the pressure of a bigger club with different expectations and other players taking command etc (his move from us to MAn U is very similar to Benzema moving to Real infact)

It is only now, in his third season, that Berbatov is settling in a finding his feet and proving he is the world class striker we all knew he was (it took Rooney to get injuired and lose form for him to be given the staring role for his to happen too.)

Benzema is a top class striker, look how classy he was for France against England. His scoring record in France shows what he is about and he has all the attributes one would want in a striker, fast/strong/good finisher/good in the air.

Having a tough time at Real is not a concern to me, he is not thriving because he is not getting consistent game time (often being deployed as a sub) and strikers need confidence to play at their best, the pressure on him after not starting so great and only getting 15mins here and there to prove himself I would suggest is even greater than that Berbatov had at man u.... and Berbatov was already settled in ENglish football (benzema is much younger and his time at Real has been his first spell out of his home country)

Put it this way, I can't believe there is a single spurs fan who wouldn't bite Real's hand off to bring Benzema to our club. He is as good as we can hope for, and in truth I think he is slightly above our grasp.

It's a yes from me all day long if we even have a sniff of signing Benzema we need to do everything we can to bring him in. It would be an even bigger signing than VDV potentially.

I'm not questioning any of the Itk, but I had a text chat with a good friend of
mine today who is a Madrid based journo. He doesn't think this is a goer. There was a chance at some stage that he might go back to France till the end of the season, but Mourinho wanted to keep hold.
He also said Madrid players are tracked like the queen and if Benzema was in London Monday then it would be big news.

I have to agree, I have never believed this one would happen although I would love it too.

I am not bashing the ITK, I am sure it is all passed on in good faith, I just find it very hard to believe he was at the Lane on Monday, especially seeing as he played tonight.

Not impossible of course, I just think the chances of false information being passed to ITK is strong I mean by the time it reaches us it has to be at least 3rd hand info.

I hope he was having talks on Monday and I would love us to sign him but I will not hold my breath as I am not expecting this one to happen if I am honest (just like I never believed all the Arshavin ITK and still think people had their wires crossed personally)

I believed it. And I believe now. I'm a believer.

i reckon this is the player we'll get, if anyone -_-

Hope so, of the possible prospects he's the one I'd want the most outside of Lllorente. If we sprung £25M for Benzema perhaps Real madrid could go out and get aguero or llorente now instead of waiting for summer, that's a lot of business to get done on deadline day though.
