Does seem that we are looking specifically for a defender that’s good in the air. We’ve conceded a few from corners, Newcastle threw on Andy Carroll and he instantly caused issue (regardless of the shit penalty decision). People are questioning why are we looking at Rodon, when would he play? But maybe Jose feels he needs a dominant aerial presence and he’d get his games against certain opposition.

Whilst I’d be very disappointed if this particular signing precludes us from signing another CB who can improve our first 11 in the next couple of transfer windows, I am totally in agreement we need a CB dominant in the air.

Even during the Poch era with Toby/Verts I felt our one defensive weakness was set pieces and crossed.

JJ latest is that the mystery target (with would make sense if it was the guy) is unlikely to arrive tonight but should do before the 16th. I’m not sure I much see the point if it’s after the deadline for Europa registration.
