It's possible he will be a very good option. However, Skriniar was clearly 1st choice and another level, who would come into the first team right away.
I don't know where Rodon would be in the pecking order, but right now, he'd be 4th choice, with Tanganga injured. I don't know how many games he'll play or what effect he will have.
We already have to leave a lot of players off the bench, so he is up against it, just to make the matchday 18 squad.
Skriniar would have come in and be a starter, I just don't get this transfer.
Great for the future sure, but with limited funds, why not save that for January and buy the top player then.
