Rodgers is quoted again as saying they need to sell before they buy, and on one of the foxes message boards, someone is claiming that they have 10 players potentially out of contract next summer. Ouch.

Not looking great for them.

Oof, that is some bad planning by the club leadership. They should never have found themselves in this position

Worse thing is, they are not just 10 players out of contract by 2023...another 7 is also out of contract by 2024, which includes Maddison as well.
Lets see - we all can hope they will sell Maddison - in the end we have to be also willing to part 60m+ on him.

That is a dangerous place to be. Honestly best course of business for them is to flog off Maddison, Tielemans and Soyuncu NOW. Get in 100M and reload with some young guys.
If they aren’t very careful they’ll get sucked back down into the championship. They’re going to need significant investment just to stay mid table.

I may be wrong here but if they dropped (that's an IF) I thought they had a FFP penalty headed their way? They only got around it because the EFL found them in breach but it's not enforceable whilst they're in the EPL.
I could have it twisted though so don't take my word as gospel, I thought Wolves were another one with similar hanging over them.

I think you might be right. I seem to recall something like that.

According to the Athletic, in 2019-2021 their wages were 93% of turnover. Which is almost impressive given the state of their squad.

You have to imagine some of those will sign a new contract but it may well be they need to cut their wage bill.
What a state to get in, I wonder just how much trouble they are in, it could be flirting with relegation or a time in the championship might be preferable to the worst case scenario.
You have to think £50 million coming in and his wages off the books must look attractive.

Chelsea are reportedly interested in Fofana, he'd be 50m minimum and would give them some funds
