Maddison reportedly turned down a new contract weeks ago, there's no reason to suppose he'll agree to one now.
They are getting twitchy and so have gone public.
They quoted a price so he's for sale.
£65 million is an opening Gambit.

This is how I see it.

I think we will readily pay £65 million this summer for a key player who will be integral to what Conte is building. I just don't think Maddison is that player. He would surely be a plan B option and at most an important squad player. It's not the money, I'm sure we'd pay that for Bastoni, it's more a question of priorities and squeezing maximum utility from the budget.
Disagree per Herc ITK a few weeks back..we ain't stumping up that do-ri-mi

I'd snap their hand off for 7.5m lol.

Also has anyone thought about whether Maddison would be OK coming here to be 3rd choice? Hell, would he be OK going anywhere without being a nailed on starter? Because it's hard to see him starting more than 30-40% of matches in our system...
3rd choice? What on earth are you on about lol. With how much he played RM last season I expect he would largely be in rotation with Deki, allowing Richarlison to rotate with Son and Kane in positions where he is more comfortable anyway.

If I was Spurs manager Maddison would be in my hypothetical first XI. A bit pointless doing this sort of thing for next season because of the enormous rotation required but for me it would be:

Lloris
Romero Dier BD/CL
Spence ---- Bentancur ----- Bissouma ---- Perisic
Maddison
Kane ---------- Son

My take on this is that Maddison rejects the new contract. Meaning LCFC need to cash in quick or risk losing £20-30m in the space of a year. He can afford to sit tight.

True but seems to me like all of our top CB targets are either reluctant or unavailable. Would rather wait until next summer/Jan rather than sign an average CB for the sake of it. I feel an expensive AM like Maddison would make more financial sense this window due to availability.

Obviously things could change late in the window, but personally I'd be stunned if we got a CB like Bastoni, Gvardiol or similar this summer.
Maybe, just think if Conte isn't keen on Rodon then we are just looking for an upgrade on him, as well as someone who could usurp Sanchez as RCB cover too. The waiting should come from the LCB options (Gvardiol, Bastoni) dependent on how Lenglet gets on.

Kulusevski -------Kane ---------- Son

Bench:
Forster
Sanchez
BD/CL
Sessegnon
Royal (or Skipp)
Hojbjerg
Lucas
Maddison
Richarlison

Spence is simply not ready, and we are better served in a 343, where Maddison can play, but I prefer Deki.

Not for a discussion on Spence in this thread, but don't think there's a lot between them. I think Spence is a better stylistic fit despite his lack of experience.

Very strong then our rotation team would be

Fraser
Sanchez CB. Lenglet
Doherty Hojberg Skipp. Sessegnon
Kulu. Richarlison. Moura

That is pretty amazing strength in depth,

That second string could finish top 8. For these reasons, I find it mental that Zaniolo is being preferred to this fella, all fees being equal.

Agreed but if it is who conte wants as he’s more of a natural RW then we have to go with it. I think maddison is better, by quite a bit but it’s not my choice. Maddison imo really elevates us.
imagine with 20 mins to go when we are struggling to break teams down moving to a back 4 and having Kane, son, maddison, Kulu or richarlison on the pitch and perisic, Doherty etc. so much goal scoring ability

Strong chance that for all the chit chat, Leicester don’t actually want to sell their best player and therefore preference doesn’t really matter

I'm probably going to get a lot of negatives for this, but I don't want this first class knob anywhere near our club.
There is no doubt on his day he's a very good player, but in the past he has rubbished our club and players and at times wished we would get battered.
Yes he was younger, but he wasn't a 15 year old, he was an adult. A couple of examples "Wiltshire is 10 times the player than Dembele " and when he was ar Norwich "I would never sign for Tottenham my friends would disown me " and finally as recent as last season, " hope Arsenal get 4th, they deserve it more than Spurs"
Basically if he signs for us he is a hypocrite and would be purely for the money. There are certain players that have certain characters that despite how good they are I wouldn't want at my club, but I won't list them here cos I don't want to create a fire storm of disagreement
I wanted him even though I didn’t like him much but I wasn’t aware of all of these statements. I agree with you now , don’t want the twat anywhere near our club. He sounds such a thick goon with the Dembele quote. These are more than someone expressing a dislike of a club or a preference of another. He hates us. So I can’t help but hate him.

People say stupid stuff.
Doherty is a huge arsenal fan and has been nothing but the model pro since he has been here.
If we sign him I'm sure he will be professional and give his all.

There's absolutely no doubt Leicester don't want to sell him, that's a given but he won't sign a new contract so they'll have to sell him next year or risk getting nothing, they can't get the hoped for fee for Tielemans and they need to bring money in to bring in new players.
It may be that wanting to sell him doesn't come into it.

They will sell him if he's not signing a new contract thats also the Elephant in the room when it comes to us Kane if he doesn't sign a new contract we will need to ask the same question.

Have to disagree there.

No way Maddison gets in to our strongest 11 ahead of Deki for me.

And Conte clearly wants to use 343 as our primary formation. I acknowledge you said it’s hypothetical based on if you were manager but just my thoughts on it.
