We spent £60m on Richarlison?

Plus if Leicester wants Winks that offsets some of the cost - I don't know why people are being so dismissive?

It's more likely we don't go for him because Conte prefers other players such as Zaniolo.

He's not worth £65 mill, ffs, the PL has gone mad

Maddison - last season - goals and assists = £65m
Grealish - last season - next to nothing = £100m

£65m doesn’t sound bad. The only argument against is that he’s only got a couple of years left on his contract but there’s been several transfers recently where high profile players have still cost a fortune despite only having 12-24 months left on their deals.

A new contract or £65m sale.

Key part of it is the 'unless he requests a move' part.

I imagine he will, and will not sign a new contract. Leicester are going backwards and he can't get into the England team there. Makes sense to seek a move to a CL club this summer or next.

That £65m suddenly moves closer to £50m after the above happens.

Unless he wants to leave and Leicester agree a fee with another team then HE IS NOT LEAVING CLEARLY.

To play devil's advocate, would spending £60m on Richarlison not (in part) limit our ability to spend large on him?
I honestly believe if we shift the 4-5 players out as intended, this amount is easily covered. And we haven't even finish using a big part of the £150 million capital injection.

You pay a premium for strikers, I think their valuation of JM is frankly ridiculous IMO

65 million as a starting position for Leicester is actually reasonable...its about right imo.

I mean if that statement is accurate it suggests Maddison is unlikely to sign an extension and they're getting ready for some serious negotiating.

I think 50-55 million gets him.

And if we can get them to take Winks for a tidy amount it offsets it all quite nicely.

Doable, totally.

Usually, but this summer we keep being told we have plenty of money to spend.

So I guess it depends on how much we actually want to sign him ( hopefully we do, because I think he’d a cracking signing).

Think we might find this out after we shift a few unwanted players.

Not sure how much I buy that news but honestly if Richarlison is 60, 65 for Maddison isn't a particularly crazy valuation relative to the rest of the market (I imagine HG inflates the value). Obviously the market is nuts, but that valuation isn't particularly nuts.

And if they're prepared to pay 20 for Winks, then that's a deal I can get on board with.

I don't trust the account. But I would happily spend £65m on him if that included add-ons and Winks as part of a deal/they buy Winks seperately. Plus we could recoup £30m from Lo Celso, N'Dom, a right back, and some loan fees. All of that together could mean an outlay of £10-20m.

Maddisons stats last season and glimpses of brilliance over his career so far, plus his age and HG status makes it a no brainer to me.

City are selling players for near that amount who only have 1 year contract left and are either older or not HG and don't have amazing stats.

I honestly believe he would be an amazing addition and be a fan favourite for the next 5+ years if we bought him.

Yeah more I think about it the more that seems a bit silly. 65 simply isn't that crazy a valuation for a HG player with those stats in this market. If Leicester were intending to scare people off with that, then...

I don't think they are. Feels like they are starting to drip feed info to the fans that they need to sell to buy and that Maddison may well need to go. Everton were similar with Richarlison.

No wonder Levy is sensing blood in the water.

Levy is built for such times. This scenario is like a perfect storm for him. He’s built a stadium which generates income and now has CL football in it and a manager he trusts. Plus other clubs are financially troubled. This is truly Levy time.

Still think it's unlikely, but given we got that 150m, a 65m price tag certainly isn't beyond us.

Obviously a bit of a simplification, but beyond Richarlison most of our signings have been either frees, loans or relatively cheap and we've got ~30m for CCV and Bergwijn. If we sell a few more players then a big late window splurge on Maddison isn't beyond the realm of possibility.

To put things in perspective, I think Forest have a bigger net spend than us so far this summer.

All the successful Clubs over the years have had one thing in common...even above good managers.

It's quality/strength in depth.

They're never that badly hamstrung with injuries because there's simply very little drop off on in quality with a few injuries.

I think adding Maddison brings us to that sort of level now.
