Even if it means we free up more cash for a top class central defender? I've never been all that impressed with Maddison.

Who is this top class defender? Bastoni is a pipe dream as is Gvardiol. That doesn’t leave many if any who are both obtainable and will significantly improve our back line.

With Leicester wanting to sell YT instead of Maddison I wonder what they would do if we submitted say a £40-50m offer for him? The new season is just around the corner and they need to starting refreshing their squad sooner rather than later.

He definitely seems an arsenal fan lol
He definitely does. But ultimately if we could find a deal for him and he wanted to join, I kind of feel he's about to have a proper 'break out' season where we see a genuinely brilliant player emerge.

I doubt they'd countenance selling him to us for anything other than a crazy fee though, so....

I'm probably going to get a lot of negatives for this, but I don't want this first class knob anywhere near our club.
There is no doubt on his day he's a very good player, but in the past he has rubbished our club and players and at times wished we would get battered.
Yes he was younger, but he wasn't a 15 year old, he was an adult. A couple of examples "Wiltshire is 10 times the player than Dembele " and when he was ar Norwich "I would never sign for Tottenham my friends would disown me " and finally as recent as last season, " hope Arsenal get 4th, they deserve it more than Spurs"
Basically if he signs for us he is a hypocrite and would be purely for the money. There are certain players that have certain characters that despite how good they are I wouldn't want at my club, but I won't list them here cos I don't want to create a fire storm of disagreement

I do think that is fair however personally I have greater misgivings about having had Jose as manager a person I throughly dislike as a human being, a bully and a narcissist but we all would have accepted if he won us a title.

He is a bit of a cock no doubt but actually he was 16 when he tweeted that Wilshere comment (though it was about Bale not Dembele). So as twatty as it was, that can be put down to adolescence, combined with the average IQ of a footballer.

Also, nothing wrong with saying he’d never sign for a club because his friends would hate him, that’s just bantz innit to please his mates. Wouldn’t surprise me if he said that a good few years ago too.

I wasn’t aware of the ‘Hope Arsenal get 4th’ comment’. Have you got a link? That would be unprofessional from a player depending on when he said it (if Leicester still had to play us and Arsenal for example). He supports Arsenal and that’s fine. Bergkamp supported Spurs and moved to Arsenal. Imagine if we signed Maddison and he scored the winner against them in a cup final or something. Would make it even sweeter for me!

It probably would be about the money but that’s just the state of the game nowadays. I reckon 95% of players are all about money and trophies….. though if City offered everyone £30k a week max, they’d have none of their current squad.

With all that said, although I’d love to sign him, I can’t see it happening.

I would too but also want zaniolo..we don’t know if it’s one only…
Wonder if it would be farfetched that we swap Tanguy for Zaniolo and have the funds left to sign Maddison and a top cb. Probably is, can see us bring in 9 new players. As long as Conte is happy with the incomings that's the main thing.

I think the Bergkamp supporting Spurs is actually bollocks, think it was made up.

Hoddle was his idol so he followed Spurs because of it. I doubt he went to games etc but remember reading that he looked out for our results.

Defoe was a gooner too. My point was it doesn’t really matter what team they support. Saying that, Darren Bent and Jason Cundy were Arsenal and Chelsea through and through…. And they’ve both turned out to be proper ****s. So the concerns can be justified at times….

Yeah I get your point, not disputing that, but Bergkamp has openly said he wasn't a Spurs fan as a kid, just that he loved Hoddle.

Of course he wouldn’t admit to being a Spurs fan, once he became an Arsenal player.

Yeah he has said that, but so would I if I was an Arsenal legend. He only said it after he joined Arsenal. But yep, Bergkamp aside, offer the vast majority of players big dosh and they’ll sign for Nonce Utd if they formed. Like Ricky Gervais said about actors making films for Isis if the money was right. ?

Just found out that Bale ’really liked’ Arsenal as a kid. There was a point in my life when I didn’t even hate West Ham. So ashamed.

The Arsenal 4th bit was quoted in , the final two weeks ,can't find the link now, but I remember it because the reporter responded by saying it would have helped if the hadn't lost in injury time to spurs ?

I’m a big fan of the mind set of Maddison not wanting to sign a new contract so Leicester should just sell to us and get a big fee, and us not selling Kane as we’d rather have him the last few years of his contract than not at all.
It’s almost as if agendas are different depending on what side of the fence you sit.

I went home to my parents to clear some stuff out recently and was shocked to find a few panini division one ‘86 stickers on the side of my old desk. I had a row of Spurs ones (including John Chiedozie and Ossie with his marvellous moustache) but also , for some inexplicable reason, Cottee and McAvennie from West Ham and Nigel Spackman from Chelsea. I was 12 at the time but still strange behaviour….

Maddison is not an Arsenal fan. A Simple google search, reveals he's a Coventry City fan and liked Man Utd as a kid. There is also photos of him in a Man Utd kit as a youngster.

I only needed John Chiedozie to finish the Spurs set, finally got it and in my excitement of waving the elusive sticker around a girl called Becky grabbed it and ran of with it and I never saw it again.
