Wouldn't Hulk and Bale be a bit too similar?

Isn't that a champagne problem?

Hopefully not, hugely overhyped and overpriced and I can't see him prospering much in the PL as he's so predictable. It worked out for him one season in Portugal but against better organised defences and better keepers I think he'd struggle, leastways struggle to justify the price he would cost, I'm sure he would manage to be OK but then you could probably but two or three players capable of doing OK for the price of Hulk

Haha! What I meant was they'll probably go in each others way, and thus make us less efficient. For example, both love to cut in from the right and bang it in the top corner. Of course, If Hulk can do that from the right and Bale can do it from the middle, I'm not gonna complain.

Anyway, If we're gonna blast that kind of money anywhere, I'd much rather see us sign someone who is a typical front man, and not a winger like Hulk (although he's versatile enough to play up front, he's not a very typical lone striker).

Edit: I forgot Gylfi likes to curl them in from the left. A midfield of Gylfi, Bale and Hulk, who all bang them in the top corner from their respective positions is indeed very tempting.

I agree with you, but you could say the same about Bale to be fair.
How many goals has he scored cutting in from the right and letting fly from 20+ yards.
Everyone knows what he is going to do but you still can't stop it.

Except people in Russia seem to be stopping Hulk...

Yeah but Hulk just uses his strength to cut a swathe in and hits a powerful shot, Bale might score a lot of goals coming across from the right but also scores coming from deep from the left, he will often turn and cut back either flank rather than just cut across and uses a combination of pace and agility and some of his shots are more than just hit hard, they are placed, curve or etc. No one really knows what Bale will do whereas with Hulk you do

could only see us going for him if we sell bale. and even if we did sell bale there's other players i would hope we'd go for instead of hulk as he's on astronomical wages

...So what he said there is he basically went there for the money money money and some challenge and doesn't mind what the fans say cause he is there for Zenit; he's not in a hurry to leave just yet. All this interview just remarks that he is another run-of-the-mill numpty who has no sense when making good decisions. Of course, most players are money driven, but most actually go to great teams, not crapola teams.

That's harsh. Football is a job for these people. How many people here would pass on a job offer that would double or treble your wages? Granted money isn't everything, but it's a huge driver in what people do.

Harsh, unfortunately, but true I believe. That's what I perceived from his tone in this interview.
