No further action!! Massive result

http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2010/oct/06/tottenham-tom-huddlestone-champions-league?

Uefa will take no action against Tottenham Hotspur's Tom Huddlestone after the midfielder appeared to elbow the FC Twente forward Marc Janko in the face during their Champions League match last week.

Janko had claimed that Huddlestone deliberately "smashed his arm into my face" and left him with a nosebleed while the pair tussled in the Group A game at White Hart Lane.

Huddlestone was not punished over the incident at the time – indeed he was being fouled by Janko when it occurred and the free-kick went the other way.

Uefa agreed to gather more information on the incident after the game, including looking at video footage and interviewing the officials. There were fears that were Huddlestone to be charged and banned over the matter, he could miss Spurs' double-header with the holders Internazionale, however the matter will not be pursued by the governing body.

it is great news!

he needs to be aware though that people, including opposition fans and referees, will have seen this incident and players might try wind him up to provoke a reaction and referees might not give him the benefit of doubt in future incidents for a while so he needs to keep his nose clean for a while

I'm very pissed off with this decision :bang:

Janko clearly headbutted the arm of Huddlestone and should be banned for at least 3 games.

great result - who thought UEFA could be so sensible and get a decision so right.
Hud clearly didn't aim for his head - the guy was falling and hence his head was lower to the ground. Whilst hud did swing an arm back, but just to shake the other player off of his shirt.
Well done UEFA !!!

Good news, not sure how he's gotten away with that, but I'm not complaining.

Whilst we're in with the luck, cheeky appeal of Rafa's red card?

not sure why its being labled as lucky

It was right in front of the ref that took no action. They would be giving the ref a vote of no confidence to take action now as he clearly saw what had happened.

and it wasn't a clear elbow for me.
Hudd was being pulled back and sang his arm back twice, both times he never raised his elbow. It was unfortunate that he caught Janko with his elbow but was not intentional to elbow him. The intent was to push/hit him away that could have been given a yellow, but never a red for me

I do think that is a rose tinted view of the incident mate. It looked petulant, which Hudd can be at times, and there was no need for him to swing his arm back like that. He was going to get a foul, he should just have gone down without retaliating.

I agree there was no need for him to swing his arm back, and said that he should have been booked for it.

But he never raised his elbow or swung his elbow back. It was an arm movement, and one that was never above shoulder height.

You dont expect someone head to be about 3ft off the floor.

This is so wrong in the modern game.
Hud had every right to try and prise the other guys arm off him to try and play on whilst we were in position. throwing yourself to the ground at every opportunity is not the game i grew up loving, and for all ar*enals beutiful football i cannot stand their cheating and falling over. There is no way i want to see us falling over if we can try and stay on feet.
Not arguing against your point Shelfside18, just whinging about the modern game !!!!!

They made it look a lot worse by slowing it down on the replay. Judging it in real time I didn't think it was actually that bad. You have to judge it based on the pace of play and not the slow mo.
