Is that from "ITK"?

It may or may not be true but I wouldn't take it as gospel unless he has said so himself (or something stronger than ITK mumblings which brought us such gems as "After Modric heard the crowd signing his name post match preseason Niko turned to him and asked how can you leave now....to which he emotionally replied I can't" days before he signed for Real)

I'd say most likely his primary motivation for signing a new contract was to receive an increase in wages and our primary reason to offer him one (in addition to reward his good form and helping to motivate him) would be to be able to command a higher fee for him as and when we need to sell

We don't know what assurances were made to him regarding a move to a bigger club, or what contact he's had with the likes of Real....we do know however that Levy made such promises to Modric and that Bale had been in contact with Real prior to the window in which he moved to them.

I think we signed Vorm to be in place should we be forced to sell Lloris in the summer or even next summer for the sake of smooth transition in such a vital area.

I think we know that if a big club like Barca or Real (even PSG) come in he's likely to want to force a move and we're likely to have to sell and we certainly don't want to be scrambling around trying to buy someone to replace him at the end of a window (as we all know Levy would make any sale come down to the end to drum every last cent out of the deal)

So my personal opinion is that Vorm was signed with an eye on replacing Lloris as and when he moves rather than to be a cover/back up keeper and that is irrespective of the fact he signed a new contract 13 days before Vorm joined.

I may be wrong of course - but that is my take on the situation

You'll have to excuse me for not scrolling through all of his wife's twitter searching for a comment that says the reason Lloris signed his new contract was because she and the rest of his family love living in London - I will take your word for that

I have no doubt that he and his family love living in London - it's one of the best City's in the World to live especially for the wealthy

Regardless of that though I don't think his family would want to stand in the way of his career progression and if he were offered the chance to play for the likes of Real or Barca I am certain he would want to and that his wife would support him in doing so

So again I believe the main motivating factor in signing a new contract would have been to increase his wage as he would still be able to live in London playing for us whether he had extended his contract or not (it's not like it was about to run out and if he didn't sign he would be forced out the club)

While I am sure his wife loves it here it's not like she's from him and would have trouble adjusting if she moved due to leaving her friends and family behind - she's already moved from France to London and it's not like she has a career here that like VdV's mrs that forced him to want to move to Germany

Lloris surely has the ambition and motivation to make the most of his talent in his career, he wouldn't have got to where he is without it and I think with that ambition will come a desire to play for the worlds biggest clubs and win the top honours and I suspect this summer may well be the time when that opportunity presents itself to him and he'd be crazy not to want to take it to stay with us and hope to fight for a CL place instead of competing to win every honour in football at Real

I thought this was a thread about Hector Moreno and not Hugo Lloris...but for some the names may look the same

On another note though, surely Moreno could do better than us?

If we bring him in, which i fully expect us to, who do people expect to be our starting centre to long term. I realise Moreno probably wont be fit enough to really make much of a mark in the PL till near the end of the season but he primarily plays on the left of the two defenders, Jan's position, and i actually think Jan will stay come seasons end. There is no doubt that Moreno, Jan, Fazio and Dier make a very good group of CD but it might be hard to keep them all happy beyond this season.

I think we will sign Moreno in January. Paper talk is Chiriches will leave but I would not entirely rule out a Verts sale. Kaboul will not be at Spurs next season.
Could then be Fazio and Moreno with Dier and Veljkovic as back up. Ball is confident in possession and hopefully could step up. I don't know what is happening with Capoue but he started the campaign well and if he wants to play for Spurs he could be a useful squad player to cover CB and midfield. If not Stambouli has experience playing CB.

Haha oh yes we do. There is a massive middle ground between some of our current CB's and being of the level sufficient to demand a move to a bigger club than us.

I think he's good enough to get a starting spot for any of United, Arsenal or Liverpool, all bigger clubs than Spurs.

Haha tbh that's a fair point given the current situations at each of those.

To be honest only Chelsea have a competent defence amongst the top teams this season.

Could not agree more. City could IMO if Pellegrini would get over his strange reserve against Nastastic, but hey wtf do I know he's a title winner and I'm still laying in bed.

He's still a human being, and humans can be odd. I think Nastasic is an excellent young defender and will only get better. Would love him at Spurs.

Agreed. I'd even take him over Moreno if they're similarly priced (although I've no doubt Nastasic would demand higher wages) if for no other reason than the Prem experience.

ref selling Jan
Trix ITK - Schniedy is very expensive, unless things change financially, or we get another player sales windfall

there is no chance of this happening.

Think you may be right given the above and the faith we have in those coming through. Also think the time and money will be right

Well I'm inclined to agree, only because I've seen Nastasic play plenty of times, both here and in Italy. Moreno, on the other hand, I've only watched in the World Cup. Looks good, but I don't know enough of him to feel confident about him adapting to this league.
