On another note though, surely Moreno could do better than us?
He's profile isn't that high

I think the bigger clubs than us would be going for more established higher profile players personally

Possibly Arsenal could be a rival, you'd think they will look to recruit someone to reinforce their back line

I'd hope personally that his options are limited to us and clubs in or around our level of player attraction (stature, wage structure etc) and that having Poch in charge as a man he's worked with and seems to have a good relationship with would give us the edge

(until Levy get's involved in the negotiations I suppose and drags it all out beyond the close of the window only for ITK to tell us the goal posts were moved time and time again)

Well I'm inclined to agree, only because I've seen Nastasic play plenty of times, both here and in Italy. Moreno, on the other hand, I've only watched in the World Cup. Looks good, but I don't know enough of him to feel confident about him adapting to this league.

I have next to no experience watching Moreno at club level, and couldn't even tell you if he featured against us in the friendly we played against them a couple summers ago. We get all the Mexican national team games televised here in the States, and of course playing against CONCACAF competition I could tell you I've watched him specifically 100 times in that format, but it would be no more conducive to developing an opinion on how he would fare in the Prem (probably shouldn't anyway, since Mexico has been pretty shit for the last couple of years aside from a good showing in the WC). So in truth, you and I watching the World Cup and no club level would put us on exactly the same basis for judgement.

But I was extremely impressed with how quickly a young Nastasic adapted to the Premier League, and especially in a side pressing for the title. He and Kompany were a fantastic pairing IMO. The prospect having of Dier alongside Nastasic for years to come is just beyond succulent.

On Football Manager maybe, in real life you need an experienced CB to bring the younger one through.

Eh, I've never played that game in my life. Couldn't even tell you what it looks like.

And you're right, that would not be favorable this season for certain. This is why I still favor first and foremost, Ryan Shawcross. He's not the best defender we could realistically get, but I still think we need a mentality improvement first and foremost. I think Shawcross alongside Vertonghen would be a great pairing for the time being. Shawcross' edge and leadership I think would be just the kind of kick up the arse Vertonghen could use to get back to his best.

Nastasic alongside Dier would only work in an idealistic world since Nastasic would undoubtedly want first choice playing time, and I don't think Nastasic alongside Vertonghen for the time being would be a good pairing. I've no doubt part of the rationale for Moreno is that with him coming off an injury and from La Liga, he'd no doubt be cheaper and of course would be less likely to expect immediate first choice playing time.

ref selling Jan
Trix ITK - Schniedy is very expensive, unless things change financially, or we get another player sales windfall
eusa_whistle.gif
there is no chance of this happening.

Think you may be right given the above and the faith we have in those coming through. Also think the time and money will be right

Don't think Vertonghen would net a windfall fee. Lloris maybe ?

I think he's just referring to selling multiple players in January. We won't sell Lloris in January.

Yeah - all of Capoue, Chiriches, Paulinho and Dembele should fetch c.75% of what we paid for them (Ade and Kaboul won't bring significant fees because of their short contract).

That's more than £40m

Why do you invent stuff like this? No one has suggested that.
No need to invent the truth.

Do you want to tell me about any other experiences I may have had? I should probably know, seen as though I am me after all....

Yes they have. There has been many examples on this forum (albeit they are generally from the same people)

Pochettino signed Moreno from Dutch side AZ Alkmaar in 2011 when he was Espanyol boss, so he has previous with the player.

And that interest has not gone away, according to reports this week. Espanyol need to balance their books and see the sale of Moreno as the quickest way to do so. Pochettino might be able to get his man.

However, Moreno has only played 30 minutes of football this season!

How much do Espanyol want? That's what I'm interested in knowing.

I'm betting we're just waiting to see if he can put in a 90 minute shift yet.
