What's new

Have we seen the best of Huddlestone or is he still rusty?

AVB has slowly been conforming to what the fans want in terms of a starting line-up... But they were logical, straight forward swaps (e.g Lloris for Friedel, Ade in)

Will he go a step further and play Carroll instead of Thudd?

I think although in good form; Spam at home wouldn't be a bad shout to try it out.

IF Dembele is back; if. I would even be tempted for a 4-3-3.

Dembele the box to box, driving forward like he does so well.

Sandro just being his usual best self and clearing up everything...

Leaving Carroll to find those pockets of space and dictate play

This is what I've been thinking all along.

If you watch the way Moutinho plays, it's actually quite similar to Carroll. He's 'nippy' in defense, he can play with his back to the goal and turn around and flip a pass to the flanks (tried to hit Verts today on his run but overhit the ball just a tad), and he has the ability to drive forward and play the ball on the ground with through balls. I won't get carried away and say Carroll is like-for-like, but there are definite similarities but obviously Carroll is not as refined. Haven't really seen Carroll take a shot much either, but if he's continually making passes like he has, I don't care if he ever shoots.

I think Sandro, Dembele, and Carroll could form a fantastic trio in midfield. It's active, mobile, and it can really be pesky for other teams. And, it would give Carroll some protection with Sandro and Dembele both there as opposed to throwing Carroll out in a 2-man midfield.

I love the idea, I've been wanting it, and I think the talents really would mesh well together.

I really think we have to sell him in January, whilst teams like Stoke and Sunderland are still under the illusion he's a decent footballer.

I'm not being harsh intentionally, but if his mobility has got even worse than it used to be, and he can no longer clear the first man from a corner, what fucking use is he?!
Well, you never know when we might need someone to turn and casually chip a 20 yard pass sideways, which bounces awkwardly just before it reaches its target (assuming it IS on target) and slows down the play. It could come in useful :hungry:

Yet he got some game time for England on Wednesday? Just bizarre. Pros must see the game differently to us norms. He did have one good season for us but since the injury he has just been embarrassing. Dawson passes better than him now. That is not a slight on Daws because I rate him highly but when a cb does better at what he is supposedly in the team for then surely its time for him to take a blow and concentrate on the Leo Sayer tribute act circuit. Or go to Stoke.

finally the penny seems to be dropping where huddlestone is concerned his lack of mobility against arsenal has cost us so many times, he is nowhere near good enough for us the sad thing is he feels he is too good for us.

We should really just sell Hudd, Dawson, and Dempsey while they all hold value. That'd be a large chunk of money to add to the non-Moutinho money. If Levy decides to not sit on his hands and use that money and get the players AVB wants... We might be cookin' with gas going into the weak 2nd half of our season.

He's awesome at pointing and mastered hiding behind players ... shadow of his former self.

so i've noticed. he has spent every game this season virtually in between the Centre backs for most of his time on the pitch. Sometimes venturing forward to the halfway line. Think he knows he has no stamina or pace for this level anymore so trys not to get caught out by being too high up to often. But he is showing nothing on the ball and nothing without it. his position is such a vital one that you can't just hide, play safe balls and do nothing else. Least JJ had the pace and fitness levels to work his ass off for 90 minutes

didnt much rate him before, but now he is really shite, the injury must've really taken it out of him.

I used to rate huddlestone but he isn't really good enough. He would be better at a wigan or similar club.

Never been a fan. Just don't know what he does? Pings the odd 50 yard ball, scores from outside the box once a season.......and then what ? He has nothing to offer us IMO
