Siggy is a good plyer but I'd probably prefer Kranjcar, or even Pienaar over him (though Siggy has youth on his side).

Why does nobody rate Siggy highly? I personally think he has been unlucky this season, playing out of position... Had few chances expertly saved, or being denied by the woodwork. Next season Siggy will be awesome and will be a 10+ goal a season man.

I like him, and I've consistently supported him from the very start. My point was that in terms of like for like improvements, he's not at the level Kranjcar generally was for us, or that Pienaar (when given more than the odd 10 minutes here and there) has been in the premiership.

I'm sure Siggy will be an important player for us next season, but he wasn't a signing that improved on what we had.

We haven't improved on the team we had last season. With the exception of Lloris and new and improved Bale we've gone backwards.

King > Verts
Modric > Dembele
VDV > Dempsey

The main positive?

AVB > Harry

Pretty much this. Weakened first team, yet improved manager = pretty much the same level we were at last year. Oh if only AVB could have worked with Modric and VDV! :(

I can't believe we ever had to compare keane and Defoe , keane is a much better player shame he wasn't quite the same player that left us when he returned

One of the sadder parts of the comparison is some of the players we've lost, who despite the fact we got great money for them, they would have really added something to us.

King was an unfortunate loss, i don't think there's any doubt he was one of the best defenders around, on form the best i've ever seen.

Players like Modric, VDV and the Keane/Berbatov partnership would have undoubtedly added something special to our current line up. Especially the goals K&B delivered!

As mentioned on other threads, whilst i think we've replaced to an extent Modders and VDV, we've simply lacked goals. Goals we have struggled to replace since that partnership IMHO.

Surely we have to sort that out this summer right??? Right?!

I know it's not fashionable but at the moment for me it's still

AVB = Harry

I found that on twitter. It says: "in 4 years, have spurs really improved?"

BHp_DrDCAAAEIqK.jpg

my opinion (it's hard to say becouse of rotating positions but..):

Lloris > Gomes
BAE = BAE
Dawson = Dawson
Vertonghen < King
Sandro > Huddelston
Dembele < Modric
Bale = Bale
Lennon = Lennon
Siggy < Berbatov
Defoe = Keane

2012/2013 < 2008/2009

Spurs haven't improved :(

Your thoughts?
Which just goes to highlight the excellent job AVB has done this year and how fucked up Levy's transfer policy has been (Levy has done an excellent job, just wish he would sort out his transfer policy the twat :LOL: ).

I don't know, AVB has done just a good a job as Harry, but with lots of long term injuries, no VDV or Modric and Ade has been a waste of Space this season. Yet we are still up there.

We were better last season imo, Ledley was supreme but the fact that Verts plays more games probs add's up to an improvement. The rest of the signings obviously not better that what departed. We played better footy last season aswell. Saying that, its not AVB's fault players left, better players not brought in ect ect, and in terms of the way we play AVB will no doubt improve that aspect given more time.

It's a close call admittedly. We haven't seen (will we ever see) AVB have a chance of bringing in his own players (Holtby aside). That's a big part of how valuable a manger can be in my book. Not that I have a book on what I like in a manager.

The other thing about AVB is that he's got long term potential, unlike Harry.

Yes. But he has uber-Bale.

I'm not going to nitpick, they both do/did things that piss me off and I'm not letting my judgement of the fact that I like AVB more as a bloke get clouded just yet. Tactically, I think we set up more organised under AVB which I like, I think sometimes his team selections border on insanity (the continued picking of Naughton at left back for one), and I'm not overly impressed with his 'in-game' substitutions at the moment (as did Redknapp). He's done a lot of good things though and I'm really happy we have him. Just don't see enough of anything to get more excited about than what we were doing last year.

One advantage I'd give AVB is his youth . Its easier for the young to learn from mistakes . AVB , in a tight situation squadwise
has tried a few experiments , and gone down a few blind alleys ...but I reckon he's learning from this . A manager gaining in strength imo .

Absolutely, couldn't agree more, I think AVB will go on to far succeed Redknapp at Spurs, provided he is given the right tools. I can actually see us winning a trophy under him.

My equation was just based on the here and now though.

I can agree to a lot of that, but the thing that bothers me more than anything is Levy and will he actually get the players we need or just random good bargins which has left our squad totally unbalanced and lacking any kind of depth beyond the starting 11.

This summer is make or break for Levy, if he can't address glaring issues in regards to the overall squad, then I am not sure he is the right man. As I have said many times before, he has done amazing for us to take us from where we was to where we are now, but he is undoing all that hard work through his transfer policy and undermining the direction the club is going.

Beautiful diagram - terrible tweet. Although going slightly off topic, our starting eleven is worse than last years, but this is the best squad we have had certainly in my lifetime (26 years) even if unnecessarily overloaded in some positions.

I agree to a certain extent with most of that, but i think we will not be able to really judge AVB until the end of next season, he has worked well with the players he has and i hope that in the summer he will ( having had a season with the squad) know where he has to improve and strengthen.

I honestly believe we will become a far better team under AVB then Redknapp.
