Not true at all. If Kane is off next summer anyway, then it’s best for the new manager to come in and work with players who will be here. It allows the manager to instill a system that won’t have to be changed in a year because there is no like-for-like replacement for Kane.

This is before considering that Kane’s value will be lower next summer, and that is less money to reinvest - just as other clubs are starting to spend again.

The only real reason to keep Kane would be if you thought it gave you a strong chance at CL - but without reinvestment we have a low chance even with Kane.

Yeah not sure why you've decided to cut most of my post where I've already countered your arguement but OK lol

Exactly that, there has to be ambition of reaching the CL and without Kane that makes it 100x harder.

If he wants to go, let him go. Fuck him.

I think a lot of people (myself included) naively thought he was part of the dying breed of players that are actually loyal.

If he loved the club, he would stay. It’s simple.

He’s fucking adored by the whole fan base and he earns £300k a week from his boyhood club.

I can understand where you are coming from, but the pinnacle is winning, it is the be all and end all for a professional sportsman. Yes the money is a factor at the start, but when you are at the top end of elite sport its all about winning trophies...Can Harry do that at Spurs? Unfortunately I think that ship sailed in the short to medium term...

Is this true?

No, it's only the second best stadium in the galaxy.

We just lost out to a team based in the Alpha Centauri star system that was discovered to host sentient life on the day Levy was due to accept the award in a lavish ceremony hosted at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium hospitality suite.

Absolutely love Harry, but if he has truly done a 'come and get me' interview for Sky without the club's knowledge then I will lose some respect for him. You can't do that. Bale didn't even go that far.

I appreciate he might feel painted into a corner but that seems like a nuclear option.

Then, its going to be a long, painful year.

Emotional decisions are usually the worst decisions.

That would be extremely risky by him, those interviews have to result in a move. The hero status would go out the window and if Levy doesn't sell he would have a very uncomfortable year you would have to think.

Wouldn't you just love it if there was an announcement that Kane has signed a new contract and declared his wish to stay at Spurs. As much as id like this to happen and its probably unlikely, but just to mug off Sky.

@Rob

Any chance of turning the blue ITK backgrounds back on? It would certainly help with reading this thread (and the next manager one).

Thanks!

This "uncomfortable" viewing for Spurs fans will most likely tally with what we've heard from ITK and the BBC rather than with what we have heard from Sky et al. Highly unlikely that Harry will have said openly, in a Sky interview, that he wants to leave Spurs.

The point is that if we start winning he might change his mind. Big summer for Levy get the manager right and back him and most of this negativity goes away. If I were Levy I'd be spending big this Summer and if it doesn't work out sell Kane next year to recoup that money. If it does then CL and PL money should cover it anyway. Give Hitchen the reigns and see what he does with them.
Spend big but with what money ? I do Zar understand where we hope to accumulate the cash to spend this summer aside from selling players ?

Things will need to get more toxic for anything to happen. I hope the fans dont let up on ENIC tomorrrow. Make it EXTREMELY uncomfortable for Levy.
Exactly what we need for important match which would have an impact on Kane, new manager etc

There is an assumption here that City is the destination, I don't get it though. They've stonked this season without having a main striker. And I realise this is going to sound like i don't love him - and i do, but sure he scores a lot of goals, but where was he v City? Where was he when we played Arsenal last? Where was he when we played a downward Chelsea? Both games against Liverpool? Both games against City? The reverse at Zagreb? The final at City? Only one goal in the Fa Cup against Everton when we had 30 mins of extra time for him to level it. I'm all for keeping your best players, but at times he gets on my nerves as the expectation is only met when we play weaker sides or games that have little bearing or already won. The list of games where he has scored this season and we've won is: Plovdiv, Southampton, Shkendija, Haifa, Man U (freakish result of the season), Brighton, Ludgorets, West Brom (x2), Arse at home, Stoke, Leeds, Sheffield and Wolves. When you put that together it looks like he's a back up striker and not the sort that can change games - since he starts every game he is fit for. 47 appearances, 13 games won where he has scored, 7 when he hasn't - that's less than half the games played. Sure you could blame the manager, or defence, but I think he's already gone when he can't stretch to making it matter in the bigger six-pointers and crucial knockouts. Erling Braut Haaland has made 27 BL appearances and 25 odd goals. He has done 8 CL and 10 goals. He's the brighter prospect for a rich club like Man City. Why would they plump for Kane? Meanwhile he has a fan base at Spurs who love him the way he is, and if he can't improve his lot with us then the upwards move might seem dreamlike but not necessarily nailed on for the trophies. Top clubs are in 4 comps in this country. We have 6 or 7 top clubs these days, that means there will always be somebody not winning a trophy more often than winning it. Everybody expects Man City to win trophies, but last year they only won the Carabao. Something we were one or two goals short of doing this year..... They seem to be doing fine without him. Man U haven't won a thing. But he'd walk in there with less pressure than at City. However....Next season we are in the mix again. It doesn't make sense to move this year when we are in the same boat as other big six teams with similar chances of competing for silver.

Agreed. You also have a new manager coming in with a more significant 'war chest' to play with. We are about to get a new manager and we need a rebuild. It makes sense to give the new guys as much money as possible to create his team.

However the downside is that you don't have one of the best strikers in the world up front. :(

If hypothetically Kane wanted to make a move, who are the main clubs who would target him? Let's game this out...

Man City: Aguero is leaving and they might feel the need to replace him, but is Kane someone who fits into their tiki-taka style of play when they often play without a stereotypical number 9? Spurs won't be willing to sell for anything that doesn't come close to a world record fee, and for all the money that City have their MO has been to pay up to 60M for quality (but not galactico) players.

Man Utd: probably the best fit of a team for Kane and a massive club brand around the world that would further lift Kane's image. But they arguably have decent attacking talent in the team with Rashford, Greenwood, Fernandes and have just signed up Cavani for another season. Going to Utd right now does not guarantee big silverware - they are still a distance away from winning the league - and does Kane really want to play under Ole?

Chelsea: they might have the money and may be crying out for a proper CF with the likes of Werner, Abraham and Giroud not top level strikers. But I just can't see Kane wanting to go to a London rival, and I just can't see Spurs selling any player to them either.

So looking abroad...

Barca and Real may want him but can't afford to buy him.

PSG could afford him, but does Kane want to play in the French league and what's his relationship like with Poch?

Bayern - they have Lewandoski and not sure Kane fits the mould of the younger stars they like to bring in.

I can't see him wanting to go to Italy, let alone the clubs being able to afford the fee.

This is 100% opinion-based, but looking at the above options I could only imagine United being a realistic destination, and even then I doubt Levy would sanction a deal at anything other than a world record fee as we're not a charity. I would bet big on Kane still being a Spurs player by the end of the summer window, and the onus is on Spurs to recruit the best new manager and invest in the squad over the summer for us to prove to Kane over the course of the next season that we can challenge again at the top tables.

Don't think Man City will spend the money, but from a style of play, Kane would be perfect for them, IMO. Kane is such a well rounded player, not just an out and out striker which would be scary when combining with the other players on that team.

Other than the fact that Levy better know not to do it, Chelsea also makes sense as they could offer a couple of young players in return to reduce the overall cost. Again, don't think it will happen and from a fan perspective, it better not.

Man U does not make as much sense to me unless they absolutely feel Kane is the missing ingredient for them to win now. Greenwood is a real talent and if they go after Sancho I just don't see them spending the money on Kane.

Outside of the PL, I am not sure the teams have the money to splash and I cannot really see Kane wanting to go play in France.
