Great tactical analysis of AVB (or why I think will Finish Top 4!)

Before we played 433 against Norwich away, I was one them, I admit. I still think 4231 is a better formation tactically for us than 442 or 4411 though, I just think the 433 suits us better.

I think we've seen the last of 4-4-2, at least as a starting formation. The only reason for employing it now is to accommodate Defoe. 4-4-1-1 could easily switch to 4-5-1 or 4-2-3-1 (which, let's face it, is simply a refinement of 4-5-1) very easily.

Anyone else think Defoe will look better in a 433 as well? Less pressure on him to hold the ball up and more interchange with bale/demp

This would be the 'dummy' manager who has the highest PPG of any manager in Spurs' history? Hey, let's pick on the bad stuff and ignore the fact that last season and 2009-10 were the sixth and eighth best we've ever had, points-wise, and the best you've ever witnessed. (I'm taking it that you're quite a bit younger than me, because I have witnessed better.)

Harry got several things seriously wrong, but spare us this infantile clueless bullshit, will you?

Haha well then Daniel Levy must be an infantile, clueless bullshitter because he clearly agreed with me!

Harry was in charge of us during historically good seasons for us because we had a squad of greater quality than we've had for a long part of our history. But Jol did almost as well in terms of finishing results as Harry, with a team not even close to as good imho. A manager has to be judged in terms of the quality of players at his disposal and based on that I would say Harry had 1 good season overall which was 2009-10.

And if you're criticizing my point of view, then I think you need to offer your own explanation for the inconsistency we saw in the 2nd half of the season compared to the 1st half in 2011 and 2012. Why were we the only team who did 15 points worse against the exact same 19 teams in the 2nd half of last season, while every other top team got pretty much the same number of points, or a deviation of 2 or 3 points maximum?

To be the best we've got to be the best in all things. Redknapp got decent results but run the footballing side of things like Mourinho, Ferguson or Wenger? Do me a favour.

So I back AVB if he gets them training for twice as long as Redknapp did, then those players can get out and train twice as long and have them say 'Thank you, Sir for training us so much' at the end of it.

Hell, let's even have them saying, 'Please Sir, can I have some more...? Because we heard that the other clubs train just this much and we want to beat them all...'

So what's this all got to do with tactics? Well, getting the club to do well comprises of many things. I want AVB to have our players fitter than the rest. I want AVB to have our players work on individual technique more than the rest. I want AVB to work on defensive and attacking set tactics more than the rest and certainly I want him working on overall tactics more than the rest.

You can never be equipped enough and so if AVB tells these players they have to get up at 2:30 a.m because their 4-3-3 isn't up to much, I expect alarm bells to be ringing before the moon is fat - and I'll back him all the way, as Redknapp only had the players training a couple of hours a day and from the facebook photos, all they ever did was play matches and run about a bit (yes, I know, unfortunate turn of phrase). The recent photos suggest a little bit more ball work and technique work.

I thank Harry for what he did, he was manager when we did very well, but I think and I suspect a lot of others believe that he could have done better than he did and to move forward, we need a manager who is going to run his club like (although better than) the managers I mentioned at the beginning.
