Being brought up on late 80's English football this is what I thought everyone did. I was absolutely blown away - and I remember it vividly - watching a full match on TV involving Red Star Belgrade where their defence and midfield spent minute after minute passing the ball to each other. Up until then I don't think I'd seen a passage of football with 20 or 30 passes without someone either lumping it up to the edge of the box or committing a tackle that today would get you a short prison sentence.I remember a fair few of those keepers! Interesting that keepers nowadays use more of a side technique when kicking out of their hands too.
The first keeper I remember doing the side kick was Pepe Reina when he joined Liverpool. There may have been others before but he launched it so long with that technique, it felt like a brand new game changer.I remember a fair few of those keepers! Interesting that keepers nowadays use more of a side technique when kicking out of their hands too.
Also just ever. The single most beautiful (elegant) footballer in my lifetime.
Imo the best team goal ever scored
