Would only work with Rossi alone up top in certain games imo. The way we played with just 10 men shows just how we're capable of playing. We'd need a big man up top in other games aswell, although could possibly switch VDV to the right and play Pav/Crouch up top with Rossi in those games.

Quality player, not the ideal type of player, but definitely a talent. I would take Rossi and Hulk/Fabiano over Keane and Crouch/Pav.

so if we had Rossi, Hulk and Defoe, we would be coverd and have 3 great forwards, with Kane or any other youth strikers coming in if we needed! though i still like Suares also but dont know who for

He's nothing like VDV, only in height and being left-footed.

Very quick, excellent technique/control, movement, composed finisher, sets up his fair share of goals too. Bale/Rossi/Lennon would probably be the fastest front 3 on the planet.

If you want a big guy upfront to lump the ball forward to then obviously Rossi doesn't fit the bill.

Thanks for the insight. I haven't checked his videos yet, just read about him so it was the impression I got of him. Glad to know he's different than VDV, but do we need him? Besides fast, he seems like Defoe but can score longer range goals.

I don't mind if he's strong or tall as long as he's class. I said tall and strong because it suits Harry's new formation better, as he seems to play 1 upfront now not the old 4-4-2.

TOTTENHAM were quoted an amazing £35million when they made a shock move for former Manchester United striker Giuseppe Rossi.

Rossi's brother, who acts as his advisor, had talks with Spurs representatives about the Italian international moving to White Hart Lane. The 23-year-old has been banging in the goals for Spanish outfit Villarreal at an average of almost one every two games and is getting rave notices from scouts all over Europe.

But while Spurs are keen to land a new striker, they are not prepared to spend silly money. They wanted Andy Carroll from Newcastle but were put off by a similar valuation.

Rossi was not a great success when he first came to England as a 17-year-old.
He hit one league goal for United, none on loan at Newcastle and Alex Ferguson flogged him to Villarreal for £6m in 2007.

Meanwhile the Independent claim he's available for less than half that!

12 with add-ons to 15. that's my limit... it also means I'd be listening to offers for Defoe as Rossi isn't cup tied. Same values for Suarez but Defoe stays til the summer

Only to be sanctioned on the proviso Llorente isn't available for up to 18. Van Wolfswinkel isn't available for up to 12 with add ons and Lukaka with add ons to 25

Lol at the Sun. "Amazing", "shocked" and "silly money" all in a few sentences. I'm surprised that Villareal didn't need to brace themselves for a bid.

I agree, but there's an inherit problem with that, If we don't bite the bullet and pay out big for at least one top target, we will ultimately lose out everytime, There has never been a better chance like this to become a regular top 4 team since the 80's I think. Otherwise our limit will be outside the top 4 for the next century!. ok not century, 5-10 years, I get emotiional about spurs.. :)

Totally agree with you in principle. BUT. If you accept that VDV is a direct replacement for Keane then over the next 2 windows we'll probably need replacements in place for Crouch and Pav due to their ages and Levy's want for a sell-on value. Rossi is a great striker but we're effectively looking to upgrade two tall wanna-be lone strikers and that's where I think the money should go. I'm fine with making a statement purchase but it shouldn't be on this type of striker... and that's why I see him as more of a Defoe replacement.

I don't reckon much to these Bent windfall stories and I'm not saying we're not in for Rossi. According to Naill Quinn their Bent money allows them to pay off what they owe us. It may eventually total a few millin plus when all the installments are dealt with but that has probably covered the fee for Pienar.

Villa are to pay Sunderland £18m over three years for Darren Bent, plus add ons which could take the total transfer to £24m. The first of the three installments went straight to us, to pay off the remaining money they owed on the transfer and our sell-on fee. £6m.

What formation would that leave us with?

4-6-0 with midgets running about everywhere?

..................... Gomes

Hutton ... Dawson ... Gallas ... Ekotto

Lennon ... H'stone ... Modric ..... Bale

..... Van der Vaart .... Rossi ...........

...................................................

The most attacking team in the Prem, playing with no out and out strikers!!!!!

???? How are we going to get murdered, Modric's ability isn't about strength!. It's about His ability to make grunt's with strength look stupid. As he has done all season!.. Pienaar is an extremely creative attacking midfielder. I havn't seen many make him look a monkey in midfield. So I'm not sure what you meanby it..

Huddlestone, Is a great passer of the ball and a very good player at holding up the ball, But only occasionally. I've seen him give away some diabolical fouls and passes. Pienaar is far more consistant, which I'd rather have to be honest.
