I think they’d be getting a bargain for £40m tbh.

If they’d signed him for that last summer, I’ve no doubt they’d be in the UCL now.
Fair enough. I don't rate him that highly but for someone who only has one year left on his contract £40M seems really steep; hard to believe there aren't better options out there.

Not sure why he'd swap being a squad player at City to be a squad player for us. He certainly wouldn't be a regular starter.
He’d play loads for us. If we sign a more creative CM in the summer he could play in a 2 up top with Kane or Son, he could play up top with Son even with Kane in behind them, that would be fun to watch! He’s also able to play out wide, the only real question is would Conte be able to improve his game up top on his own, where he’s struggled at times.. I’d personally back Conte to improve that aspect as he’s done it with Lukaku and I just have absolute faith that Conte is magician tbh.

I think some have reservations over him and think he’s not great but I think much like Son he’s a very instinctual player and struggles with the way City play in slow build up etc I think with the way we get forward a bit quicker would allow him to play to his strengths and I just have a good feeling him and Kane would really be an excellent combination in the same way Kane and Son are. Son would struggle in that City system imo but he thrives in ours and I believe Jesus could really show more of his potential with us and Conte

Never seen enough of him to know much about him beyond the stats, scores about 1 in 3/3.5 games.

Esoteric joke, but still more likely to see this one

Good player, yet I can't help but see this link as an Arsenal leak, so when they sign him their supporters could feel as if they beat us to him.

I'm just not sure this deal makes much sense.

He appeared in 28 league games for City this season. I can't see him playing that much more for us.

Just not sure it's the right fit.

It’s a bit simplistic to say he’s just be swapping City’s bench for ours given the differences in styles and overall squad depth

He would play a lot more us than City and if we want to seriously compete in multiple competitions would have lots of game time.

this was a rare season when Kane didn’t pick up an injury too but even if he doesn’t Jesus could be a key player over a season

It’s the depth we need, it’s the versatile forward we need, we are likely to switch up formations more next season to a 352 where he’d be ideal, as we’ll likely have more midfielders available and he’s able to play left or right in a front 3 as well as on his own, admittedly he’s struggled at times in that role but I’d back Conte to improve him and our style of play being a bit quicker to suit his instinctual style of attacking play. Also, we need a bit of succession planning for Kane and Son losing a yard at some point, why not now?

He would be a great signing - at the top of my list for attacking options.

I'd take him if he wants to come and if the fee is reasonable. As others have pointed out he can play all over the front three, he's proven in the PL, trained under a world-class manager among world-class players. We could do so much worse than him.

As I see it we have more pressing concerns than CF. If we could sew up a deal quickly for Jesus we can put time, effort and money in to other positions.

I want us to have extra depth and options. I'm just not convinced Jesus is the right player for us.

What makes you feel that way? Would you have anyone in mind that you believe is that right player?

Personally I think he’s perfect. Prem proven, versatile, still young, bags of skill, talent and potential. There’s only one player we could realistically attract that I’d put ahead of him and that’s Victor Osimhen, the rest that have been linked/suggested aren’t proven enough for me. Darwin Nunez looks interesting but he’s very raw and it’s a shit league where Vinicius scored a load of goals, so it’s a gamble

Yeah I think is probably true. I haven't really watched enough of him to have a strong opinion about whether he would be a good buy for us. However something I've noticed popping up in multiple threads is this idea that we have three great forwards in Kulusevski, Son and Kane and we don't really need any players who could potentially compete with them for starting places.

Being linked to players like Jesus might not make sense in an ideal world where Son, Kane and Kulusevski stay fit enough to play every game at optimum levels, never have a quiet game and are capable of providing all of the tactical flexibility we need. Realistically though, players get injured and tired, have off-matches and are not always the best fit for a particular tactical approach. Good as our front three are, there are still multiple matches like Brighton and Brentford where we struggle to break a team down. Having options could give us that vital edge.

My issue is that I don’t think he has anywhere near the quality to push Son, Kane or Kulu for a place in the team. He’s been the only striker at City for two years now, and he’s still struggled to get in the side. Whenever I’ve seen him play, he’s spurned golden chances and sitters. I just don’t think he’s that good.

I’ll be honest and say I’ll take him as another centre forward rather than having no other option, but I’m sure there are other options. Weghorst, Martinez, De Katalere are just 3 off the top of my head that we’ve been linked with in previous windows they might be considered.
