My daughter has football today, and she just went off to school in her fresh new Speedportals:

Literally too cool for school.
I got my boy some black and white predators, they look so cool. Unfortunately he’s not really getting in to the football much, I think watching me and my despair at every Spurs and England match, has put him off. Which is probably for the best. He should have a nice steady life now.

To be honest, I didn't really play football properly until I was about 11 when it started being part of PE at secondary school, and it didn't really kick in for me as a passion until I was 13/14.

Then somehow I was obsessed with playing.

I was football mad very young. First memories are of the ‘86 World Cup, so I was 4/5 ish.

Wore these the other day for the first time in years.

I know 99% of people will think they’re hideous but I was obliged to purchase.

I have a massive soft spot for those R9 Vapor’s! Had some in SG as a 13 year old and banged 70 goals in a season in them and was picked up by Norwich City off the back of that season. Absolute nostalgia to me every time I see them ?

I remember I had a pair of mizuno in the early 90s when I was a lad . Owned a pair of umbro wishbone which you could fold in half, very flexible. But my go to boots were Adidas word cup or copas or later on puma king moulded studs which I wore in every condition, rain snow mud. Probably still my favourite boots ever. Got a pair of predators when they first came out, sure some Australian guy that played with Liverpool had something to do with them. (Craig Johnston) but I didn't really like them.

That's right, I remember him being on Transworld Sport in the early 90s demonstrating them on a muddy pitch. I had a pair of Pred Accelerators, the 98 model. They were very very comfy iirc.

If anyone has any old boots knocking about, this guy is a Spurs fan. He's called Neil, and he started a charity on his own, collecting old boots and sending/taking them to South America, Africa, and Asia. He's a really nice guy and has collection bins around the city and at a few grounds/training grounds.

Oh I remember that program, used to love it as we had council telly at the time (no sky) and it used to cover sports that i had never seen like Aussie rules etc

Its summer, and my Mundials are getting hot and heavy. They're definitely more of a winter boot, for slippy pitches and cloggier conditions. I need something lighter and cooler. Does anyone have any recommendations for light astros?

I’d probably say the best lightweight Astro’s are the Nike Elastico finale’s and the best indoors are the Nike react Gato’s. Whichever surface you’re playing on I’d recommend either of those

If anyone ever wanted ant Football boots from a UK company, check out Stylo Matchmakers, they were apparently big in the 70s but went under in the 90s (I think), but the rights were bought a few years back and they were re-launched & modernised.

I’d say just ride it out, this heat won’t last forever.
Although if you want some new lighter astros, just buy any modern synthetic pair from your favourite brand.

Ive been playing in the Nike Tiempos on turf, I’m liking them a lot.

Just simple flat design on the top of the foot, no gimmicks, great touch.

it’s the closest to the mid 2000s Total 90, which were the best shoes I’ve ever played in. I could pull off an elástico at any time, never could do it as easily in other boots.
