Problem is we need more than a couple mate and again we are haggling at targets, making them unavailable for key games
Yes, that is worrying and I agree - we do need to see more than a couple but if we get a couple in that Conte is pleased with then it does offer some assurance that the club are backing him.

You say this every ten pages and every time someone points out the spend of our rivals and the fact you have to do it each window. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to look at the targets of arsenal for instance who are in the Europa to see what our intentions are
You mean the club who just lost out their main signing?

If you believe the solution is to sack Conte for little on-field success after 14 months, remember that the guy who will choose his replacement hasn’t achieved that in 22 years.

If Conte goes, Levy should go.

Some people are moaning about Conte moaning but seem to have completely forgotten about Poch’s interviews! Leading up to the CL final he said he’d leave if we won the cup! Then it was almost daily rumours that he would go to Man Utd and he didn’t try to shut them down once. He was as moody if not worse than Conte near the end. I’ll always be grateful for the Poch era but let’s not rewrite history. Every manager becomes a grumpy bugger sooner or later when Levy is involved ?
Poch said in fall 18 'that the feeling was the worst', looked pissed most of he season, he had challenged the club to be brave the previous spring, do things different, prioritize trophies, basically started calling them out, Levy's answer was to spend 0 summer 18 and writing was on the wall after that. Conte situation seems very similar, especially if we go through whole window without spending.

Levy has made 3 poor appointments not in keeping with the football club

Conte has to go I doubt Levy will

Antonio shouldn't worry, Dan gonna bring Porro back just like he did when he was negotiating with Sporting on the Bruno Fernandes deal.

The outrage around Levy is bordering on hysteria with some peoplhat's happened this window?

ask yourself why would you give him any money -
Because if not him, then who?
Conte may not be perfect but he's possibly the most proven manager we've had.
If levy is going to back out from giving Conte what he needs (maybe even what he was promised) he's never going to give it to anyone.

As I've said a few times now, this isn't about Conte anymore - apart from why even bother hiring him if you aren't going to give him what he wants - it's about Levy failing every manager we've had over the past two decades.

Not signalling anyone out here, but a few have latched onto this notion that Conte has a proven system, likes it's a magic formula or something that can't fail.
Pretty sure there was a similar notion about Jose at some point, think there was a similar myth surrounding Jack Charlton's style for Ireland in the 90's.
Thing is these systems get found out pretty quickly and football moves on. Hence a good coach is one who doesn't stick to a "proven" formula and is always looking to challenge their opponent. Fact is any half decent coach setting up a team to play Spurs know what they're going up against every time.
This is actually a really good an interesting point/post.

Part of Conte’s strength in the past has been his attention to detail and ridgid organised structure and pattern’s of play as well as a formation which when he brought it to the PL, was new and many teams and coaches weren’t used to and had no answer for.

As football has continued to evolve, managers who are willing to adapt their system and tactics and apprised to suit the squad they have and coach and develop those said players are the ones who are getting the most from their team/squad. Think Eddie Howe this season for example and Arteta etc.

Conte and Jose used to have their blueprints but the downfall of the rigidness is predictability.

Now if you have a predictable system or pattern of play but the quality of players is so high it’s very hard to stop that is fine but if you don’t have the specialist players or level of quality of player you require AND your approach is predictable and rigid then issues arise.

For example against Arsenal it was clear our midfield 2 were vastly outnumbered by their 4 because they play a 3 and Zinchenko tucks inside. So adapt to that, play a 3-5-2 or back 4 otherwise you’ll just get beaten Simple as.

I still think conte is a fantastic world class coach but it also makes me have more and more respect for certain other coaches who are squeezing 110% out of teams and squads with far lesser talent and quality than ours.

Conte like Jose needs lots of money spent and quite specific players, if we weren’t willing to do that then the appointment was just a waste of time.

As crackers said on TLWOS, it’s like buying a Bentley car and then only being willing to pay £200 each time you put it in for a service. If you’re not going to regularly shell out for an expensive service on that Bentley then don’t buy one in the first place.

Yeah but they were in the mix and they've backed the manager through bad form and across multiple windows. Signed and let go the same players because it didn't work out.

We dick around with targets, don't get first choice CB's for multiple managers and throw our toys out of the pram when the form dips

do you really think a centre back would transform Conte's side into a decent side ?
