I somewhat agree, although you can see the point of owners who are beseeched by fans to spend more on players in fees and wages each year without any certainty to what their budget will be the following year if they lose that CL money.
Then they should budget for that possibility.

The irony of clubs saying they need more money when many of their primary employees earn more in a day than most do in a year. Perhaps if you didn't all go along with runaway player transfers and wages you wouldnt be in this mess.

Football is operated like on giant Ponzi scheme. They (the clubs) need take control of the money, and stop wastefully allowing others to dictate the prices of players, wages and agents.
Operate this like a business.
If you want profits then operate like you do so.

Can you expand on the bit in bold? Keen to hear the details on what currently takes place.

According to The Times, Johnson informed the FA and Premier League that if they chose to expel the breakaway clubs from their competitions then the government would immediately change competition laws to prevent the breakaway clubs from mounting legal action.

The problem for them is that football is one of the only industries where the workers get paid more than the bare minimum those owning the means of production can get away with. It’s the wrinkle in this hyper-capitalist industry that vexes them so.

Translation: We can learn a lot from German football. Nothing is off the table in this review

Just getting the Government to look at the German model is a step in the right direction. It's up to fans to keep the pressure up.

I don't get this, if a group of clubs wanted to break away from a corrupt regime like uefa, then surely that's their perogative? I'm glad the ESL has failed, but if it w
Woodward is not an owner, and I think that will be the key distinction.

Wonder if utd fans will see his departure as a blessing?as I thought they didn't like his history with player recruitment?

They are ecstatic, but I really don't know why he will be replaced with a clone.

"There are limited chances to realise this project in the form originally conceived"

Bahahaha and I thought Spurs and Liverpool issued bad statements.

This whole debacle in summary...

Spurs in the ESL: fucking disgrace

If Spurs not in the ESL: ffs are we not a big club?

Levy joins the ESL: Levy and ENIC out!

Levy quits the ESL: Levy and ENIC are an embarrassment.

Some fans views on ESL: greedy fucks

When ESL collapses and forgotten: FIFA and UEFA and FA are corrupted fucks

?‍♂️

Admittedly I don't know the in's and outs of the ESL proposal, but if it was advertised as a competition without the franchise aspect would most people still be okay with it? Bigger slice of the pie in terms of prize money and without being under the corrupt uefa etc.

Always fills me with confidence that our own PM doesn’t understand how legislative procedure works.

It’s like entrusting a cat with a iPhone ffs

Without the closed shop aspect I suspect it would have had a far higher chance of succeeding. But that sort of thing needs to planned out in the open, not concocted behind closed doors and then launched as a surprise attack.

Sure but expelling top 6 would mean that sl has to happen? We woul join super league to compete directly with national leagues?
Like as a punishment for sin they make you commit sin of even greater degree?
