I think Jose wants to strengthen the first eleven. Eze is not ready to do that (although some on here don’t get it ? ? ) Eze is for two years down the road. Jose wants quality now and if he only has a set figure for all his transfer dealings he would rather Eze went elsewhere in order to get his wish list.

I fully agree. It's not even that Eze 100% wouldn't improve our first 11, I just wouldn't be surprised if Jose didn't think as much but I'm also not sure Jose has the luxury of taking a risk to find out, which I would fully understand. I'm sure we'd love to make such a signing but the truth is that we have more pressing areas on the pitch to address first and foremost, we have a limited budget as it is and most probably have quite a large squad of players.

I haven't watched him play enough. But, the highlights I'm not convinced on him. Definitely a talent, though not particularly young one. Seems to have loads of ability. But, it's a risk as many players like him never really manage to convince in the PL.

But, more than that. His clips show a player with great close control and an ability to make incisive passes, but he seems more Dele, or even Lamela, than Eriksen. Now, players with that kind of ability often get crowded out and find it hard to adjust to moving up a level. However, more than that, we need an attacking option, and we need someone who can pass the ball quickly and fluidly. Be it in an AM position or from deeper. I don't think Eze is that player, I think someone like Brooks fits that role much better.

Again, might be that I haven't watched him enough. But there you go.

Shame as I think he looks a great player. Guess we have to trust the manager and see what we end up with and how we do next season.

The Athletic seemed to suggest that Palace and West Ham were pretty serious about him last week and suggested that the bigger clubs whilst interested, were concerned he was just a highlight clips player. Outside of those clips his performances weren't setting the world alight. They did all agree that Palace/West Ham would be a great move for him though. Haven't seen enough of him to really have an opinion on him to be honest.

Not seen much of him but if he’s as good as everyone says and available for 15m must be a reason no other big clubs are in for him..

He was linked with us, Chelsea. Bigger clubs won't guarantee him 1st squad/have priorities elsewhere

I think a lack of DoF could cost us here if JM says no. JM isn't worried about 3 years time cos he won't be there.

I can see this not happening as we have Gedson

Taking off the Spurs tinted perspective it's a great move for him and one that should give him plenty of opportunity to shine.

I'd hate to think we'd buy him and we have another Sessgnon situation, we need players to make an impact now but we do need to keep an eye on the future so we should be looking at younger players who are already more established (Brooks, Aarons, etc).

When the pandemic does down and we are good with the finances again we may be in a position to buy the likes of Eze when he's proven himself at this level.

The goal for Jose and Levy is to ensure our squad is well rounded and ready to challenge now so that in the near future we can focus more on key additions for continuation.

If and when Eze proves himself at PL level, that's when we get priced out of the market. We need to get these talented youngsters before they become the next Grealish or Maddison.

Thats true.

In the case of Grealish though he'd already shone in the PL and put in consistent performances.

Eze is someone you take a punt on when you have other areas covered.

If you have no creative spark and sign him with the hope he is the saviour you put the player and the club under immense pressure.

If the club had the money to sign Eze & Brooks for example, it may take the weight off. But he also may not get the required game time. It's a catch 20/20.

If we had the finances we'd buy both and loan Eze to a lower PL club for a year, like Italian clubs and Chelsea do. But we unfortunately are not able to do that.

You're right, and it's why with our ambitions and our budget, we need to be smart in the market and take calculated risks. A good director of football would help with this. Mourinho isn't looking at four years from now.

Highly doubt we will sign him, if our budget really is what has been around the media no chance Jose spends 20 odd mill on eze too many other priorities currently

I'd rather Brooks anyway.

I recall a member saying that they knew one of the Cowley brothers, recently dismissed as manager and assistant at Huddersfield saying that whilst Eze was class there wasn’t a defensive bone in his body. May have been enough to deter Jose based on similar situations we see in the squad already.

Also Mr Pink, my love to the family and I hope Saturday is a summer easy on you all as can be. Much love. A donation in respect to your mum incoming

I am assuming that José does not want Eze because he is not going to be challenging for a first team place regularly in our squad or he can’t see him in his formation next year.
Because according to my QPR mate he is absolutely ready for the PL and has everything in his locker to develop.
