I don’t think he should be a target for the forward line anyway so if that’s how we view him than I’m more then okay with that.

Reminds me of a buykyo saka type of winger aggressive good feet not always the prettiest to watch but effective . I wouldn’t sleep on him has bundles of talent and is admired by spurs (ends up at a Brentford or Brighton ) We just have other targets atm

Oh I’ve seen him a few times for Juve and he has a lot of potential for sure. I just think he’d be better suited to being converted to a FB in the Udogie mould, in fact I think his skill set would be perfect for it rather then a straight up LW in Ange’s system.

Been watching a bit more of him and I think you’re absolutely spot on in your assessment. He isn’t a front 3 player, he’d be better off as an inverted FB option.

If he ends up as our attacking signing I will be quite disappointed. If he signs as someone we develop as Udogie rotation, I’ll be excited.

Out of curiosity if he's in a Saka mould, why wouldn't he be suited as a front three option (more wide than central)?

I’m not sure he is in the Saka mould personally. Doesn’t have the same level of agility and I don’t think he has the same initial burst of acceleration with his dribbling either. Doesn’t seem as naturally creative or nimble in the final third from a standing start.

He is quick and looks a powerful runner but I think his running style would suit him coming from a deeper position.

Just get the feeling from the bits I’ve watched that he’d be comfortable holding people off in narrower areas and would make good powerful runs from deep which would suit the inverted FB role, providing he can defend well enough.

As mentioned yesterday, he starts at LWB. Chiesa also starts. For anyone who watches the game, keep an eye out for Nonge if he gets mins , He starts on the bench for Juve but a lot of hype around the kid. He’s a very technical young CM.

Watching it now, the only conclusion I've made so far I that I'm glad we didn't sign Milik, he looks very poor.

I checked his stats as I was curious (2 in 17) at Juventus. May have been some sub appearances in there but a poor player.

Chiesa had been fantastic. His speed is back, pressing like a man possessed, taking players on. Obviously injuries are a question but if we could keep him for he would be a phenomenal addition.

Probably one of the only players who kind of fits the ‘forward who can play across the front 3’ role we were speaking about the other day. Not really ideal for striker but I think you know what I mean.

What I find interesting about the game thus far is that Chiesa has spent a lot of the match hugging the left touch line which has meant SIL often sitting more centrally in CM. Tbh the match is more making me want us to do everything we can to get Chiesa rather then follow SIL.

What I would say tho is that the game thus far is just reaffirming my belief that he’d be a bad addition as a WF. He was poor every time he got into the box and didn’t look threatening at all. Needs to raise his game significantly second half. He hasn’t had to do any defending all game so hard to make to much of a judgement on him as a FB but in general he has been poor.

Agree completely. He’s natural ether wing even tho he’s right footed and I reckon in our system he could play CF in a Son like manner with some training. Considering his contract situation and Juve’s interest in PEH it wouldn’t even be an impossible deal. Juve also have Yildiz coming through who looks a real talent and plays in the same position. He scored an incredible goal on his first start the other week. Got Lot of big clubs tracking him including Liverpool but they want to keep him.

Unfortunately Illing -Junior is having an absolutely awful match. He’s even worse this half. Think he’s lost the ball every time he’s had it this half. Not surprised he’s just come off.

Yildiz on for Chiesa.

Edit-

Yildiz proving why he is so very highly rated by scoring a sublime goal. Big future that kid has, can understand why Liverpool and Arsenal amongst many others are tracking him. Bayern look silly for letting him go.

I don't think SIL has shown anything to suggest he's ready to play for a top-4 PL team. Might have the potential to get there, but when we have everyone fit, he'd be something like 7th choice winger in our squad...behind some other players who are in their early 20s and likely to improve.

Having switched to Juventus from the Chelsea academy, it wouldn't be a shock if his agent was angling to get him a move back to London at some point. He spent over 3 years in Chelsea's academy before the age of 21, so he counts as HG in England, so that could make him tempting for someone at the right price. Assuming Juventus holds on to him for now, he'd be 9 months short of also qualifying as HG in Italy, when he turns 21 in October '24.
