It wasn't a eye gouge.

The Mountain on the Viper in Game of Thrones, that was a proper eye gouge.

Dembele tickled Costa's cheek at worst.

FA probably going to make an example of Mousa because they can't touch many of our players who were booked. The whole thing was not the fluffy EPL image they want to transmit abroad that attracts sponsors.

It looks bad in slow motion, but in real time it happened so quick that it obviously was more of a slap/scratch along the face. It looks so meaningless in real time and that's why the linesman did nothing despite looking straight at it.

fucking media.. the way hypothesis are reported are so easily picked up by another outlet and got reported again, soon considerations will really be made as well as people will start to believe things are as bad as published..

the team had shed the soft core in the field.. hope our PR and legal team can toughen up too off-field for the defence of this aftermath..

10 games would be a fucking joke considering Costa didn't even know which eye he did it to ffs. If he had actually jabbed him in the eye then he'd fucking know about it.

How the FA work is a mystery to us all. I hope that all evidence is taken in and weighed as some of the incidents are likely not to be what they seem

Moving away from that then there is no denying that as a team we behaved badly in the face of provocation. Let's hope that the fines and bans are suitable for the crimes.

Now as for this not being a good advert for the EPL I would suggest that this is just the type of English all out, nothing held back football that much of the world craves to view. The game went over the edge but reminded a lot of us of the passion that sometimes seems to have been lost from our game.

I think it was crazy from Dembele, and no defending it. I admit though my views are shaped from being a big rugby fan and gouging/fingers in the eye being an absolute no-no that is really treated harshly and clamped down on. In rugby even lower grade clumsy/accidental 'contact with the eye area' offences are met with bans that are months long (see Chris Ashton recently who got 10 weeks for something very innocuous). A deliberate act would get you at least 6 months and for something as blatant as Dembele it would be longer still.

I'm not saying he should or will get something anywhere near that sort of length, but if the FA did make a bit of an example of him then I wouldn't be shocked. Was a real moment of madness from him.
Can't defend Dembele but Costa comes across as such a nasty character on the pitch that it's hard to feel sympathetic.

Costa's good at getting under his opponent's skin as well as being a great striker (albeit off the boil this season). But as much as my allegiances lie with Spurs, Moussa, Danny Rose and Dier all got a little too carried away towards the end. Aggression is good, standing up for your team mates is good but leaving yourself open to a 3 or more game ban is silly.

Saying that, Torres did the same thing at the Lane a few years back and got nothing.

I could accept Dembele getting a three match ban. That would seem a fair response to what was a nasty incident. Any more than that, especially considering the lack of action taken over the Torres incident, would be an absolute farce.

Likening it to Suarez' biting incident is stupid because his ban was as lengthy as it was due to previous conduct.

Well theres that and the mulitiicity of other biting and racial instances on Suarez's resume.

I wouldnt be surprised if the FA does go 10 games. The FA are a bunch of ****s. We've learned that with their lack of going after Chelsea players for their disgraceful actions or their club for its enabling of their disgrwceful fans. If the FA does go 10 games, i'd sue the FA for racism and anti semitism. You dont enable racists and anti semites unless you are one yourself. And they've enabled many of the kind in football. Am I overreacting? Probably. But one does have to question ehy Chelsea has never been punished. Why the spammers have never been punished and why Jamie Vardy has never been punished.

It's pretty sickening seeing how many people appear to advocate this kind of violent behaviour. You all need a good kicking. And a couple of good punches.

Hopefully just another case of a dumb tabloid journo not knowing his arse from his elbow. Wouldn't surprise me though...

Any idea when we will know what is happening? I assumed he would have been charged by now.

I actually think a 10 game ban for an eye gouge would be completely fair enough. It's a pathetic and dangerous thing to do and is arguably actually worse than biting someone.

But I do agree with those that have said others have managed to get away with similar incidents and have lesser bans so I hope there's some sort of consistency.

Either way I'd be quite happy not to see Mousa in the shirt for the rest of the season. Him and Alli deserve to sit it out and hopefully they'll come back next season with their heads screwed on a bit more.
