Samba set for January exit

Blackburn defender Chris Samba has been linked with Arsenal and Tottenham after revealing he is keen to depart Ewood Park.

Samba revealed earlier this week he was ready to quit the club following the sacking of Sam Allardyce as manager at Ewood Park and rumours have already linked both Arsenal and Spurs with a swoop for the towering defender.

Gunners boss Arsene Wenger has admitted he does not expect to do a great deal of business in January but he is keen to add to his defence as Thomas Vermaelen remains an injury concern despite his return to training, while Laurent Koscielny and Sebastien Squillaci are still getting used to life in the Premier League.

Spurs boss Harry Redknapp is also thought to be on the lookout for defensive reinforcements and has been linked with a host of centre-backs in the build up to the January transfer window due to concerns over the long-term fitness of crocked stars Ledley King and Jonathan Woodgate.

New Rovers boss Steve Kean will be desperate for Samba to stay as he hopes to impress the club's owners and prove his worth as a manager between now and the end of the season but it may prove hard to resist the likes of Arsenal and Spurs after Samba revealed he is eager to move on.

Good player but we are overloaded with centre halves and have a brilliant talent in Caulker, don't need Samba

With our injured CDs coming back, and a rising Caulker, we don't need him. Save the ammo for a top striker.

Samba would be exposed as a donkey at a bigger club than blackburn imho

Don't need or want him, Blackburn I doubt would let go cheap and he would be a waste of time.

certainly looks older, if we didnt have kaboul and this new guy coming id take him for around £5m or so. Play him as our target man!

CB is becoming the new RB for us

Although if we stretch our imagination, he's by far the cheapest target man we could buy

We do need him. He is versatile and can play midfield an even upfront.
If most of our centre halfs were fit I'd say at present they'd all be ahead of him but with our injury problems we can rapidly look skinny at the back.
I'd sign him to stop him scoring against us and also if Cahill from Bolton is worth £20 million we have the paying too much for English players again.

Currently we have Bassong, Dawson, Gallas, Kaboul and the injury prone King & Woody on our books. Thats 6 yes 6 CB's for him to be of any use to us we would have to have 5 of them injured. Could happen i suppose but i'd say the chances are poor.
Play him in midfield & upfront ? He's barely decent in defence his prefered position let alone somewhere else on the park

One thing Cherno Samba is great at is scoring goals! He's played up front for Rovers on occassion when they were struggling with injuries, bit like Doc Doherty!

But agree that we don't need any more centre backs. Dawson and Bassong are great players in the prime (Bassong perhaps needs to be more consistent) whilst Kaboul has improved during the last few matches this season. King, Gallas and Woody should manage to play most games between the three of them from an experience p.o.v.
