A combined total of 4 premier league goals in the last three seasons.

Three of which came in the 17/18 season in 31 prem games.

1 in 16 last season

0 in 16 this season.

Yeah, that's gonna sort the striker problem.

I thought Christmas cracker jokes were shit, but this, this is teetering on sadistic.

Didn't he once have a good season for Villa? I wonder if he even remembers it himself it was so long ago ...some experience.
In his first 5 seasons in the prem he averaged 13 goals per season. The last 2 1/2 have been utter rubbish though

I think people are a bit to quick to judge here. Do I want him? No, probably not. However he could act a bit like a Heskey for our more talented attackers to play off. Not saying he is the right option, but at least he is already settled into the league, which is a bonus.

Can't believe we didn't take a punt on Samatta, bought today by Villa for £10M from Genk. Scored 32 goals and 6 assists last season, and 3 goals in this season's champions league.

In fairness it must be a bloody tough job being a Spurs scout... spending all your time doing detailed analysis of prospective players around the world with negligible chance that either the manager wants them or they fit our budget/perceived value

If there was anything that could force me to reconsider actively supporting Spurs, it would be the signing of Christian Benteke.

Every time I've watched him play in the past couple of years I've pitied the poor Palace fans who have to suffer him every week. He is completely finished as a footballer at this level, and has been for years.

The idea that we could have a 61k+ stadium of fans - paying the top whack ticket prices in the world - having to watch that useless lump beggars belief. It would be the club mugging off the fans pure and simple, and honestly puts paid to any notion of 'doing things the right way'.

You say that but every striker who played with him said he was their best strike partner ever as you knew he was going to create chances for them. That’s what we are looking for in this instance. As we clearly are t going to go really splash the cash like we all know we ahoukd

Benteke assists at a rate of 0.084 per game over 225 league games though. I'd prefer Peter Crouch
