We lined up with this side vs Qarabag in the group stages:

Lloris
Trippier
Toby
Verts
Davies
Mason
Dier
Son
Eriksen
Alli
Kane

Compare that with the line-up tonight...

The problem is, we weren't 2nd in the league at that point. Now don't get me wrong, I think we should've put a stronger line up out tonight because Villa and Bournemouth are easier games. However, I do understand what Poch has done, but it's backfired. He tried to play it safe and hope that the side he put out would do enough to hold things until we return to the Lane. He's got a little too scared because of our status in the league right now.

A three man midfield of Dembele, Dier and Eriksen would have made a much bigger impact than a flimsy 2 man job of Mason and Carroll.

Poch never believed we could win this tie - that's the problem here.
True but they have obviously studied us and their preparation has been spot on.... Things like their back three in the first half which we struggled against, and brutally exposing how narrow we defend. Details, details, details.

First time we've been beaten by more than one goal this season.

We'd have been better off doing a Harry and ditching the competition from word go.

I don't criticise Poch for playing a second team tonight, but if we don't intend to play a first team against the best teams in the competition then why bother with it at all?

I can only assume that he saw it as a good opportunity to play a few squad players, and to help the overall team to gel. Probably wasn't expecting us to be 2nd in the league by this point either.

I have no love for the EL so I'm not particularly disappointed that Pochettino has thrown the game, but I'd be interested in knowing Levy's thoughts.

Well this is also the problem. We dont have enough squad depth to deal with great sides, so what does Poch do? He field a first XI vs the weak sides and a significantly weakened 2nd XI vs strong sides

Something is seriously fucked up with our attitude to a competition if we start a stronger side in the group stages against also-rans from the back of beyond than the knockout stages against elite European opposition.

Seriously worrying.

or after 20 minutes when it was clear we were getting over run in midfield, the club should refund all fans or half price the tickets for the home leg,if the manager aint taking it serious the ticket prices should reflect it
You expect Daniel Levy to sanction ticket refunds or half price tickets. You cray cray o_O

Fair play to Dortmund for tearing us a new one here...we're not only taking the piss out of the competition, we're taking the piss out of them with our line up.

We'd better destroy villa and Bournemouth after this. This week has felt an awful lot like the start of our annual end of season implosion.

Some worrying stats kicking around highlighting that Poch teams tend to fall away starting about now.

I still worry about top 4.

Gutting to think we were "gunning for a treble" only two weeks ago. Now it's down to an apparent title challenge.Truth is, the title race isn't even beginning yet.
I hope we stick with it but now I'm half expecting to witness the most 'spursy' finish to a season ever

Might as well go all out attack to try and get the away goal. Whether 3-0 or 4-0 doesn't matter much.
