Anywhooo

Biggest blunder of the season has to be the handling of the Jol/Ramos affair.

Agreed. Total fuckup. I know it seems to have worked out now but for those few weeks it was embarrassing to read the news, and all the uncertainty seemed to drive everyone here literally mad.
With hindsight an idiot might say "the end justified the means". I would disagree. Ramos has brought us a trophy and he seems to be a class act, but to treat the man who, on paper at least, was one of our most successful coaches for his 2 full seasons in charge in that way was totally unacceptable. I find it shocking that any fan of more than 2 years would be ok with how that situation was dealt with. It was the kind of thing I would laugh at Newcastle for. Luckily for us we did get in a top coach.

Sorry I think the biggest blunder of the season was letting P-L-P post on this site!
Not so. His controversial threads certainly make talking points. I'm sure he appreciates a 20+ goals/season striker with commitment to the club, he's just playing the villain. We secretly love a bad guy to argue with. There have been a number on here in the past, and it's always fun to read and post replies to brainless comments clearly put there for a reaction. And then we nip back to see what the next moronic response is. It's all for a laugh. Without characters like P-L-P this site would be a more boring place.

I dont think it comes close to the positive press after the cup final.

but they are 2 diffrent things, winnign the cup being one part, which if thsi was high points of the season, then you would have a leg to stand on with that point, but the handling of Jol/Ramos being a seprate situation and of course a low point for how it was held, with the club denying it all, and then pictures of it coming out!

Lennon, Daws, Robbo, Chimbonda......tell me Im wrong.

Oh and IT IS MY OPINION. I have explained my reasoning, what more backup do you want?

Lennon was playing for Leeds United and was an absolute nobody... he then moved to us and got his chance in the 1st team cos Routledge (Eek) got injured 2 games into the season...

He then came into the team, and was a big part in our 2 5th place finishes... ok, this season he's not been as impressive as defences have began to suss him out, and he's abit too concerned with clubbing... but he's only 21 (?)

Decent sqaud player at Championship(?) side... too an (almost) first pick at a club who finished in the top 5 in his first 2 seasons, aswell as being apart of a league cup success in his 3rd season, o and being a member of the world cup squad!

Surely that's moving forward?

Ditto most of the above with Dawson... when he came as part of the deal that got Andy Reid, everyone was creaming over Reid... and wondered who the fuck Dawson was... he played a big part in earning us our top 5 finishes, and was in the provisional world cup squad... ok he's been badly found out at times, and if we're honest he's a decent backup, nothing else... but I'd say going from the 3rd (?) tier of English football to 2 5th place finishes and an England call up constitute going forward...

Chimbonda- Going from PFA team of the year (where he stood out as a diamond in shite at Wigan) and getting a French squad call up, too being a part of a 5th place finish and a league cup triumph... although partly down to lack of cover... I'd say he's stayed still

Robbo- As much as I hate to say it, I agree on. England's number one to England's number 3... Backwards

Not to take this thread off topic or anything :shifty:

just because YOU havent heard of a player, doesnt make them bad. And the club they started their career at is no real indicator of ability.

During their time at Spurs, Daws and Lennon have gone backwards.

Ok, so the clubs no indicator of their ability... what are we using as the yardstick then?! England call ups or club honours? No apparently thats not allowed either? Stats? Nope?

That you thought they were amazing and now they're shite?

That's not "reasoning", thats an unbacked up statement plucked out of thin air!

This has all been said before, they are way ahead of where they were when they joined but they've had a bad season.

Blunder of the season:

Handing out flags and making a huge song and dance before our game with Villa... all live on Setanta...

Ok, in the end it was good, but it was 5 minutes away from making us a national laughing stock!

No, they went 5 steps forward in their first 2 seasons, and have gone 1 step back this season, as the majority of the team appear to due to a poor start to the season which seriously knocked our confidence, and then a change of manager. This doesn't mean they should be sold, we've had a strange season and people look for people to blame. None of our players (including Robbo) have turned shit in one season.

and on the blunders note?

Sorry dude, biggest blunder of the season was buying a striker for 16.5 million to sit on the bench, and then not buying any midfielders, except KPB who was clearly not gonna be ready for 1st team footy this season. I honestly believe our poor dealings in the transfer window were mostly to blame for our poor performance in the first half of the season. An upgrade on Zokora and a left winger were much more important than another striker.

another good shout actually!

so key contenders are;

Milking the 125 years
Spuking £16.5mil up the wall on a position we didnt need to fill (yes i know its not 16mil upfront  )
Handling of the Jol affair
