Berbatov's comments...

After the Celtic match tonight, Berbatov made some curious comments.

When the interviewer asked if he thought he had improved as a player since moving to Man U, he said...

"This is a club where there is nowhere to hide on the pitch during the match, you need to work hard all game"

He went on to say he hopes to improve as a player etc. What hacked me off is this comment suggests he wasn't giving his all at his last club and would be happy to drift out of games when it wasn't going his way - basically saying he's willing to put the work in at Man U but we weren't worth the bother. Pretty much sums up his attitude during his last season here - just doing enough to get selected, never willing to put in the graft when it wasn't going his way.

Twat!

What must be considered is he sometimes struggles to fully express his feelings, in English. Also, his recent performance for Bulgaria was openly criticised by the NT manager.

As opposed to specifically his performances in a Spurs shirt, I'd say this is more in reference to his style of play which the tough disciplinarian, Ferguson, is improving.

Watched the interview and totally agree, he really gave me the impression that he thinks only now he needs to try, now that he is at Man Utd. TBh though, i think this says more about Man Utd and Spurs rather than the player himself. Who aint gonna put the work in if sir red nose himself is about.

Gone are the days when we can compare ourselves to Man Utd. In the 80's when i started supporting Spurs there was nothing to choose between clubs, both basiclly under performing massive clubs with good players. The only difference was we had Gary Lineker and they didnt, and he would score more goals at old trafford than Brian mcClair every season.

FYI he's received alot of criticism for Bulgaria's last 2 World Cup qualifying matches aswell.

He was heading the ball away in the MU Penalty box tonight, so yes, he has changed his game, goes back to help in Defence and also harries opposition players and tries to win the ball back more now.

But then he could argue every game he's playing up Norf means something, I guess. With Bulgaria and us....who knows what his thought processes were, but he did get up for the Uefa Cup and at Wembley etc.

After your quote, he said he was guilty of going missing when he played before.

He did that for us, too.

Agree with the rest, mind.

Incidentally, be prepared for this thread to be moved to General Football.

Tevez is on the bench, initially people were complaining about his lack of effort after signing for them. If he doesn't improve that aspect of his game, Tevez will replace him - a pressing player.

For Bulgaria he's the Captain, and will never be left out.

For us, who was on the bench? Bent. Ramos picked him every time.

BMJ did say in a 5live interview last Friday that the only person who complained when he was Manager last season was Berbatov.

He was probably the only member of the squad who shared similar grievances as many fans - that we were never going to achieve the preposterous expectations expressed by the club.

I noticed this as well. Basically he said something along the lines of in broken English:

"It's been said that I don't give full effort in the past, and you're right, but now I'm here, the top club in the world, so I need to show that I do, I hope that I show I do."

So 60,000 grand a week out of Spurs fans pockets wasn't good enough for you to give 110% every week? There's people in your own country that break their backs to earn £60 a month you ignorant piece of shit. We showed respect for him as well by supporting those Bulgarian nurses when they were up shit street when he first moved here. Do things like this get forgotten????????????? Obviously so.

A disgrace. Sickens me. I was angry with Keane when he left but I sincerely hope he get's a good reception when he returns to WHL, he does care about the club. This prick doesn't. Let's give him all we got!!

Another thing that struck me about the game was when he was substituted. You could tell he didn't like it, and that he wanted to stay on for his hat-trick. But he jogged off and applauded the fans just as he was about to high five the sub.

I couldn't help but to think that if the egotistical prat was still in our colours he would've kicked up a fuss. Different now he's "living the dream" though.... Bigger pond... Our managers and fans weren't good enough to demand that kind of respect???? Prick.

Funnily enough, this was cemented with his after-match comments.

No surprise there, then.

It would probably have been a good idea to get shot of the **** last summer and sign someone who actually wanted to play for us. With the magic 20-20 hindsight specs on, I wish we'd stuck with Mido.

I should be over this now but nope still think he's a prick.

I'd prefer to get relegated with players who want to play for the club than attempt to break into the top 4 with players who dont want to. Well I think so.

Also I'm not saying that we're going to get relegated.

No, he said "I need to show what I can do", a line he trots out alot, meaning he needs to display his full range of talent to justify the 30 mill price tag.

So 60,000 grand a week out of Spurs fans pockets

Try less than 40 and you'd be nearer the mark. He played for 2 years at Spurs on a third of the wages paid to Rio, JT et al, and never complained once about it.

Why? One had a clean transfer and the other one didn't, and was made to look a villain with his reputation trashed. One never pretended he didn't want to sign for MU and told the club so back in April, one confessed his undying love, signed a long-term contract, then got tapped up at his Wedding.

Add 'prize' to the '****' and you'd have it perfectly.

So you've said often. I realise I'm in the minority, but what I see is a talented player who has gone on to further his career, and proven he can cut it on the big stage, which so many on here said he wouldn't and was overrated, including you.

Why drag up all this venom again anyway? It just makes us, languishing at the bottom, look cheap. If you were a professional footballer with a 10 year career at the top, would you choose Spurs over MU?

Keane made unfeasible promises he couldn't keep. He signed for Liverpool due mainly to a childhood affiliation, not to further his professional game.

Berbatov simply thrives for perfection and it just so happens Man Utd are the biggest team in the world and they wanted him. He left for the right reasons.

berbatov is full of horseshit the skinny, lanky, balding twat hahaha

no really, he said "i want to be remember for playing great football, entertaining, being a role model. Trophies are nice but when you go you cant take the medals, but if you play good football you will be remembered forever, and thats more important"

dont ask for where from because its from an interview before a match we had on sky.

if anyone has seen his Man U performances he may be ruining is "legacy". People like Ardiles, Gascoigne, Hoddle, they are remembered forever cos they stayed here and played great football, not always winning along the way. Berbatov was along that path, has anyone seen his games for Man U???? He is shoddy! Still lazy and to be honest its horrible to watch. His magic touch and link up play is gone!

He's roundly being attacked by spurs, non spurs and even some Man U fans for lack of effort, greed, etc.

Its karma baby!

After his first goals for United, he said this:
"Sometimes you get only one chance in these games and, for a guy who has been bought for all this money, I really have to take these chances. So that is why I was angry. I was frustrated about what I had done. I got the shot all wrong and I was embarrassed. I just kept trying and, of course, in the end I scored two goals. But I'm still angry and disappointed with myself because of the first one I missed."

He moans all the time because he is admirably determined with thriving to be the best. It has nowt to do with anything anti-Tottenham nor does it make him a ****.

The way I see it is there are now 3 types of players in the Premier league -

a) Players in the bottom part of the league who have mostly come from the Championship who work hard and who feel privileged to be in the Premiership.

b)Players who play for the top 4 teams and who will work extra hard to stay there.

c) Players who play for the clubs that fall somewhere in the middle - do enough to get by and think they should be playing for a top 4 team!

I agree with polski skleps views tbh.

Berbatov wanted to play for the biggest club in the world, who can blame him for leaving for man utd, if he had left for City then I would have questioned him, but he didnt want that.

I dont get why so many fans are bitter about his departure, I think its just annoyance that we lost a quality player more then the fact 'he had a bad attidude and supposedly never gave his all for us'.

See him play at united, he is exactly the same. Ive yet to see him celebrate a goal in the same fashion and happyness he did when he did at spurs, ive yet to see this supposed positive body language we apparently never got to see at spurs and so on.

He's a great player who thrives for the best and most attractive football, and went to the biggest club in the world in which he can achieve that with players like ronaldo, rooney, tevez, scholes and carrick around him.

Given the choice of Jenas, Lennon, Zokora and Malbranque and the above which would you honestly prefer.

Theirs no room for sentiment in football. We lost a good player, but we lost him to the best and biggest club in the world, theirs no shame in that - perhaps in the way the transfer went through, but get over it honestly.
