He started off as a LM then he was converted to a LB in the 2009-10 season, his form in 2010-11 at LB was utterly superb which is the reason why Real signed him.

I remember he played there against us, pre season friendly admittedly

I don't rate him as a left back and he doesn't add anything to Real in that position, he is nowhere near as effective as Marcelo.

Well okay, Marcelo has improved immensely at Real and adds a vital ingredient in Real's attacking impetus. This is not to say that Coentrao is a bad defender because he is anything but. Defensively he is better than Marcelo but going forward doesn't offer the same threat.

He'd no doubt improve a lot of teams if he were to move, no way is he a bad left back, the guy is brilliant.

i'm really starting to think the benny rumours are true ...

Yeah, I think they are as well. If they are, I just hope it's for a quality fee and not something like 6-8m. That's not enough money when it comes to losing a quality, established LB and a fan favorite.

This one is looking a possibility with the recent omission from the squad. Don't know if he's keeping up with his twitter. Perhaps someone should ask him if he's still got a few niggles from his injury?

You're right about the amount, I'd be rather pissed off with anything under £10 mil for a player as established as himself, even with his flaws. The only reason to let him go would be because we're lining up a replacement who is better or who is of the same ability (maybe ever so slightly less) but can get better, either way it'll cost us.

Isn't Benny linked to a move away in nearly every transfer window and yet he's gone no where. Not sure why Sky Sports rumours are now suddenly believable.

I'm pretty sure he was fit before Parker and he hasn't even made bench. Worrying.

He's not match fit yet. What part of this don't you children understand?

Sorry oh wise one but isnt this transfer discussion based on a rumour that hes being sold. Shall we just shut the entire transfer bit to keep you happy?
