Just glad we didn’t get smashed.

Sess did ok, Skipp did himself proud, but not much else to be positive about.

Dier was rancid.

Frankly, we hardly had the ball. The criticism of the front group I find a bit harsh, because they really needed to pull some magic out to succeed.

You may have answered your own point there. The front group are responsible for retaining possession further up the pitch. If they don't do that then the ball keeps coming back and the defence is put under pressure.

Yea agree with that mate. I’ve been very pro jose so far but that performance did concern me slightly as yes it was basically our B team vs their A team minus Lewandoski BUT as you say their midfield 3 vs Dier and Sissoko was a recipe for disaster.

but I think jose picked that team to give certain players match fitness and to rest others and he’s trying to keep us playing the same formation and shape until he’s had more time to coach the team properly BUT I have to say we got utterly dominated, especially in the 2nd half bayern completely controlled the game.

it shows quite a few of our back up players are a long day off that level but also tactically we got outmanoeuvred which is a tad worrying as that was an issue for jose at man.u when people said his style is outdated and he can struggle against a high press high possession side.

just observations but let’s see.
We also need to buy a top top class mobile CM or mabye 2!

Don't think he had much choice to be honest. Maybe he could have dropped Le Celso and played Skipp in there but I don't see any other real options.

I think it demonstrates clearly we need another striker who can hold the ball up.

My favourite TV chef was Nigella. Then I realised she's pushing 60. Amazing what the BBC make-up department can do these days.

But she just strolls around the kitchen, lacks effort, ignores pans that get too hot, her positioning is poor, (when she should be at the stove she's in the larder) and wants to leave the BBC for a Sky channel, she's not fit to wear the blouse. I want her out of my kitchen. She should never cook for me again.

Hmmm, that wasn’t great. Second half especially. We played a weaker team but I don’t think too many took their chances tbh. I said before the game that I wasn’t going to get too concerned about the result, but Bayern were just playing with us the whole 2nd half. Think Jose probably learned a lot about some players tonight, both good and bad. Dier was blowing the whole game for example. The main positive for me tonight is that the club of clowns down the road sold Gnabre for 6m or something stupid. He’s mustard!! Muppets!!

The bitch has too many freeloading pals with seemingly nothing to do except pop round hers for a party or gathering and eat her out of house and home

The annoying thing about it is Mourinho more often than not managed to change formations for big games to help nulify a lot of the problems we've had so far, but he changed nothing about us since he took over. Maybe it's too early, but the Wolves game could be very telling. If we defend with the same shape in that game I'll be worried because Wolves will open us up time and again.

I do wonder whether he is conscious of the perception of him “parking the bus” against the better teams and the way we have played under Poch ( and in fact under most of our managers as long as I can remember).

Will be interesting to see what he does long term.

I just don’t feel he’s going to make it with us. I just don’t see where he fits in. Hope I’m wrong.

Might be a case of right player, wrong time. We’ve been crying out for a player like him for years, but I don’t think he has the profile to fit into what Mou wants of a midfielder or wide attacker.

That's why I think the weekend's match could be telling. When Wolves have been at their best they've played 343. That kills any back four, especially one with two holding midfielders. Last year they opened us up time and time again with it, and most teams who've played it caused us big problems and I think they it'll happen again if we continue to do what we've been doing

When Mourinho went up against Chelsea and Conte's 343, he'd often play a back five so they wouldn't end up with a 5 on 4 numbers advantage (thats what Poch done in a couple of game too to some success), or he'd have his two holding midfielders man mark Hazard and Willian/Pedro, which often made it look like a back six. He got some criticism for it being to negative, but it worked pretty well.

I'm hoping we do something similar at the weekend because I can't see us having a lot of success with a back four if they play 343. They might play 352 though...

Mate this is only his second start all season mid December in a dead rubber away in Europe where we’re playing a second string. I understand he hasn’t been great but we don’t have any reasonable sample size to properly analyze.

Others like Dier on the other hand...
Skipp hasnt had any start at all, and also playing in a dead rubber where we're playing a 2nd string. But yet he has managed to play really well

So where's the logic on Lo Celso needing more gametime to justify his poor game?
