We've got plenty of options there. Modric and Kranjcar would be my pick for the 'wide' positions, although I don't know how wide they would really play. Still, a very interesting prospect.

I'd also love to see Dos Santos get a game. I don't know about from the start, but certainly from the bench.

Is this for definate? Has it been released by the club yet?

Have checked the site and can't see anything, and we all know how reliable the Sun is at times

That would be my question as well. They had Berbatov in the OP room, the same night he scored against Hull, I think.

Gio on the right. Give pace a chance.

We all know it'll be Kranky though, the sexy bugger.

Gotta be time for Giovanni.

We need some pace in that midfield which Bentley and Krancjar don't offer. We're in danger of ending up in the same awful situation that we were in in late-Oct/early-Nov (remember the 3 CMs!) unless we unlease the Gio.

Ideally we'll start Gio against Peterborough to give him the chance to nail his place against Liverpool.

This probably just means he'll be rested for the Peterborough game and ok for Liverpool mind you we might have bought a new winger by then.:)

if true, it's bad news, but as has been said we do have cover - not like for like obviously but cover

jj could well line up on the right a anfield

peterboro allows for some experimentation - within reason - we want to win :)

If we played Kranjcar and Modric I'd be a bit concerned by our lack of width. Seeing as Liverpool are quite a narrow team themselves I think having a genuine wide-man would really help us.

It's a big concern really because the two players who have given us width this season have been BAE and Lennon. If the lil man can't play then I suppose it has to be the croats on the wings, but if that's the case I think Kranjcar has to be a bit more disciplined than normal positionally.

Strength in depth is what its all about, agree with all said, although I'm not sure about keane there due to his lack of pace. Nice that we have choice in 3 options Niko Gio n JJ, unlike a few seasons ago.

Didn't take you long to abscond from work and get nattering!!

Disappointing news if true but we only have five games this month and one is against P'boro.

Giovani, if fit and in the mood, would be perfect - he plays almost the same role for Mexico and looks very comfortakle there, shame we don't use him more often.

Knowing Harry though he'll play Jenas or Bentley as they are the bigger names.

EDIT: Incidentally physioroom.com have Bentley injured til 10th and Azza isn't listed. We almost have everybody fit. NO EXCUSES REDKNAPP!!

Gutted for Aaron but surely it's time to give GDS a run at right wing. As others have said Bentley has had plenty of chances yet GDS hardly gets a sniff. My guess is JJ will be played on the right as the safe option. Our motton is "To dare is to do", hopefully HR will remember that and go with GDS!

Fuck it, I was going to start a thread after the game asking. Nothing on the official site which doesn't mean much. I immediately thought metatarsal when I saw it on the TV. Hopefully a month is an exaggeration and it's just a knock.

I would play Krancjar there. He isn't particularly slow and with Defoe making runs and Crouch making space we can create a lot of space, as well as use Corluka and whoever plays left back to overlap. Jenas would be ok but we have at least two better options in Gio and Krancjar.

Naughton is pacey. Wouldnt mind seeing him there. Or GDS. Or Kranky or Modders. In fact we have the players to cope. He will be missed though. teams fear him. Like teams used to fear Henry

That would be my second option if we don't go with Gio.

We need the genuine pace, width and flair on one side that Bentley, Krancjar and Jenas wouldn't be able to offer as Modric's flank partner.
I don't know why everyone is kidding themselves that Gio might get a Premier League start. HR hasn't shown even the slightest inclination recently to put him on the bench. I'd like to be proved wrong but it is wishing thinking to include him as an option to replace AL.

I'm firmly in the camp that Bale is LM. I remember, before his injuries and crisis of confidence, when he first played there under Jol. Was fantastic. Think he score three goals in about 4 or 5 games. Apart from the free-kick against Scum, the other two were fantastic breaks from midfield where he showed great composure when finishing (sidefooting past Niemi and rounding Jones in the Cup if I remember).

But Harry has proven that he is not an unpredictable manager. I think its just as unlikely that he will play Bale in midfield as Gio will start. It looks as if Bale will play LB & my bet is on Krancjar moving to the right if indeed AL is injured. Failing that, it might be Jenas or, god forbid, Keane.

I know we'd all like to see what Gio can do (and we probably will be able to in the Cup) but it is so unrealistic to expect him to play against Pool.

COYS ran a thread yesterday about talk of Lennon being injured but was only talk at the time. Now the Sun run a story saying he is injured..... i think i will be sceptical of this one

also add into this the fact that they published this story a week or so ago

http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepag...nths-out-for-Berba.html?OTC-RSS&ATTR=Football

and he is still playing

Yea, I don't understand why people are all doom and gloom about a Sun article. They're wrong more often than they're right about these things.

I'm sure there will be something about Lennon in the team news for the Peterborough game if he really is hurt.
